6. Connections and Control Elements
Stereo Channels
1) Stereo inputs
The stereo channel is equipped with two symmetrical (balanced) 6.3mm LINE jack sockets
to which a device with a STEREO-LINE output can be connected. This socket can also be
connected to asymmetric (unbalanced) jacks. In this case, use short cables to avoid the
danger out outside interference as far as possible.
If the channel is to be used as a mono channel, only use the L (MONO)
socket. The channel now works as a mono channel.
2) FX control (ME1002 and ME1202)
The function of the FX controllers for the stereo and mono channels are identical. Therefore,
please also observe the notes on the FX control as described for the mono channel. The FX
signal of the stereo channel is mixed into a mono signal because further FX SEND process-
ing is performed in mono.
3) BAL control
This BAL control is used to set the level ratio between the left and right input signal before it
is put on the MAIN MIX bus. The BAL control works like the PAN control in the mono chan-
nels, except that it works in stereo.
4) Channel control (LEVEL control)
The stereo channel level as compared to the overall signal (MAIN OUT) is set with the
channel control. The channel control should always be returned to the “-∞” position when
the channel is not used.
5) CLIP LED
The CLIP LED (ME1002 and ME1202) can be used to visually monitor the input level of the
stereo channel. To prevent overmodulation or distortion of the signal, the CLIP LED should
not light up. Reduce the signal source level accordingly. Also see +4/-10 switch.
6) +4/-10 switch
The +4/10 switch (ME1002 and ME1202) can be used to set the input sensitivity of the
stereo channel. Selection is possible between the home recording level (-10 dBV) and stu-
dio level (+4 dBu). Select home recording level (-10 dBV) for connection of entertainment
electronics devices (e.g. CD player, MP3 player). Select studio level (+4 dBu) when con-
