Before Initial Use
CAUTION!
You might notice a strange smell the rst time you use the appliance. We thus recom-
mend that you operate the appliance at maximum roasting time without bread or rolls
for the rst time. To do so, turn the controller to level 6. During this time, make sure
the room is well ventilated, for example, with wide-open windows!
Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. There is a danger of
suffocation!
1. Unpack all parts and check the scope of supply for completeness and transport damage
(see section “Scope of Supply and Appliance Overview). If you nd any damage to the
components, do not use them (!), but contact our Customer Service department.
2. Place the appliance on a clean, level, rm and heat-resistant surface at a suf cient distance
to ammable objects. Make sure that the appliance is not accessible to children.
3. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed and earthed 230 V-240V mains socket with
earthing contacts. A signal tone sounds.
The appliance is now ready for operation!
Use
The degree of brownness depends strongly on the type, freshness, and composition
of the bread and rolls used. An increased protein, sugar or calcium content, for
example, leads to stronger browning, whilst fats and preservatives reduce it. Accor-
ding to your personal taste and the type of baked goods, you should rst start with
a short roasting time (level 1-3) and extend it step by step until you reached your
optimum degree of browning.
CAUTION!
Before using the appliance, make sure the crumb tray is inserted completely.
The maximum roasting time (level 6) is intended only for dark types of bread! In the case of
a piece of conventional wheat toast, for example, burning and the development of smoke
may result. In this case, interrupt the roasting process immediately by pressing the Off
button (0).
1. Lay the bread or roll to be roasted on the grill.
2. Set the desired roasting time using the controller. The roas-
ting time can be set between level 1= very brief roasting/light
browning and level 6= very long roasting/very strong brow-
ning.
