OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Side grip (auxiliary handle) (Fig. 1)
The position of the side grip can be changed in 30° incre-
ments. To change the position, loosen the side grip by
turning counterclockwise and slip out the side grip teeth
from the grooves on the tool. Swing the side grip to the
desired position and then slip the side grip teeth back
into the grooves on the tool. Then tighten the side grip
securely by turning clockwise.
Installing cover (optional accessory) (Fig. 2)
CAUTION:
When using a wet type of diamond core bit, always install
a cover (optional accessory) on the tool to thoroughly
protect the tool from water.
First, unplug the tool. Remove the grip base from the
tool. Install the cover on the tool so that the teeth on the
cover fit into the grooves on the tool. Then, install the
grip base on the tool and secure by tightening the side
grip firmly.
Installing or removing diamond core bit or drill bit
(Fig. 3)
CAUTION:
Always be sure that the tool is switched off and
unplugged before installing or removing the bit.
To install the bit, place it in the chuck as far as it will go.
Tighten the chuck by hand. Place the chuck key in each
of the three holes and tighten clockwise. Be sure to
tighten all three chuck holes evenly.
To remove the bit, turn the chuck key counterclockwise in
just one hole, then loosen the chuck by hand.
Depth gauge (Fig. 4)
The depth gauge is convenient for drilling holes of uni-
form depth. Insert the depth gauge into the hole in the
grip base and adjust the depth gauge to the desired
depth. Then tighten the clamp screw to secure the depth
gauge.
Switch action (Fig. 5)
To start the tool, simply pull the trigger. Release the trig-
ger to stop. The tool will not start if you turn on and off
instantly. For continuous operation, pull the trigger and
then push in the lock button. To stop the tool from the
locked position, pull the trigger fully, then release it.
CAUTION:
Before plugging in the tool, always check to see that the
trigger switch actuates properly and returns to the “OFF”
position when released.
Torque limiter
This tool is equipped with torque limiters. They will actu-
ate when a certain torque level is reached. When this
happens, the chuck will stop turning.
CAUTION:
Do not continue to operate the tool for more than two
seconds while the torque limiter is actuating.
Do not let the torque limiter actuates too frequently.
Speed change lever (Fig. 6)
Tool speed and number of blows per minute can be
adjusted in two ranges by turning the speed change
lever. For low speed, turn the speed change lever to the
“1” position. For high speed, turn the speed change lever
to the “2” position.
CAUTION:
Always set the speed change lever carefully into the cor-
rect position. If you operate the tool with the speed
change lever positioned half-way between the “1” posi-
tion and the “2” position, the tool may be damaged.
Speed adjusting dial (Fig. 7)
Tool speed can be infinitely adjusted from 900 to 4,000 min
–1
with the speed adjusting dial and speed change lever.
Numbers from 1 through 6 are indicated on the dial. Faster speeds are obtained by setting the dial to a higher number.
Number of blows per minute varies according to the tool speed. The following charts indicate resultant tool speeds in
various lever and dial positions explained above.
When the speed
change lever is
set to the “1” posi-
tion.
When the speed
change lever is set
to the “2” position.
