DOWNLOADING A FILE FROM THINGIVERSE

To import a ﬁle from Thingiverse into

MakerWare, you must ﬁrst save the ﬁle to

your local computer. In this example, we will

import two ﬁles from Thingiverse: FlatIron.stl

and Woolworth.stl. To do this:

1. Open a browser session and go to

http://www.thingiverse.com.

2. If you know the name of the ﬁle you want

to import, you can use the Search ﬁeld in the

upper right of the page. Use the search ﬁeld

at the upper right to search for “Minimalist

NYC buildings.” Your search results should

include “Minimalist NYC buildings by

JonMonaghan.” Click on the link. [Fig. 8.1]

3. At the right of the page you will see a

button that says “Download This Thing!” [Fig.

8.2] Click this button to open the Downloads

window.

4. For this example we chose the Flatiron

Building and the Woolworth Building. In

the Downloads window, ﬁnd FlatIron.stl and

Woolworth.stl and click the ﬁle names to save

them to your computer.
