To reduce the likelihood of serious head injuries, install shock-absorbing protective surfacing under and around this unit. The protective surfacing should be
applied to a depth suitable for the unit height in accordance with AST M F1292. Follo w the guidelines belo w for each type of surfacing:
D O N OT install this unit over concrete, asphalt, packed earth, grass,
carpet, or any other hard surface. A fall onto a hard surface can result in
serious injury to the user. Grass and dirt are not considered protective
surfacing because wear and environ mental factors can reduce their
shock-absorbing e ectiveness. Carpeting and thin mats are not
adequate protective surfacing.
* Ground level equip ment, such as a sandbox, activity wall, playhouse or
other equip ment that has no elevated play surface, does not need any
protective surfacing.
PLE ASE REFER TO CRITIC AL FALL HEI G HT I NF OR MATI O N.
This unit should be installed on a level surface by an A D ULT with an
A D ULT ASSISTA NT. Place the unit on a at area to mini mize ground
preparation.
Choose a level location for this unit to reduce the likelihood of the play
set tipping over and loose-ll surfacing material washing a way during
heavy rains.
Place this unit no less than 6 feet (2 meters) fro m any structure or
obstruction, such as a fence, garage, house, overhang, branches,
laundry lines, or electrical wires.
Provide enough roo m so that children may play on this unit safely. For
exa mple, for structures with multiple play activities, a slide should not
exit in front of a s wing.
Place this unit where adults are easily able to watch children at play.

N OTE:
D O N OT install loose ll surfacing over hard surfaces like concrete or
asphalt.
Shredded bark mulch, wood chips, ne sand and ne gravel are added as
shock-absorbing materials after asse mbly. If used properly, these materials
can absorb so me of the i mpact of a childs fall.
All surface material should extend a mini mu m of 6 ft. (2 m) in all
directions around the play area.
D O N OT apply surfacing materials until after the unit is co mpletely
asse mbled and anchored.
Create a play area free of obstacles that could cause injuries - such as
lo w-hanging tree branches, overhead wires, tree stu mps or roots, large
rocks, bricks, and concrete.
Do not build this unit on top of surfacing material.
Locate bare metal platfor ms and slides out of direct sunlight to reduct the
likelihood of serious burns.
TI P: A slide that faces north will receive the least direct sunlight.
Separate active and quiet activities fro m each other. For exa mple, place
sandboxes a way fro m s wings, or use a separation guardrail or barrier.
For to-fro s wings, extend protective surfacing in front of and behind the
s wing to a distance equal to t wice the height of the top of the bar fro m
which the s wing is suspended.
