UW BLOEDGLUCOSE TESTEN
LET OP:
Lage glucoseresultaten
Als het testresultaat lager is dan 3,8 mmol/L of wordt weergegeven als LAGE GLUCOSE, kan dit duiden op hypoglycemie (een lage
bloedglucosewaarde). Dit kan een onmiddellijke behandeling vereisen volgens de aanwijzingen van uw arts/diabetesverpleegkundige.
Hoewel dit resultaat het gevolg kan zijn van een testfout, is het veiliger eerst te behandelen en vervolgens opnieuw te testen.
Dehydratatie en lage glucoseresultaten
Het is mogelijk dat u onjuiste lage bloedglucoseresultaten krijgt, als u ernstig bent uitgedroogd. Neem onmiddellijk contact op met
een arts/diabetesverpleegkundige als u denkt dat u ernstig bent uitgedroogd.
Hoge glucoseresultaten
Als uw testresultaat hoger is dan 10,0 mmol/L, kan dit duiden op hyperglycemie (een hoge bloedglucosewaarde) en moet u
overwegen een nieuwe test uit te voeren. Raadpleeg uw arts/diabetesverpleegkundige als u zich zorgen maakt over hyperglycemie.
HOGE GLUCOSE wordt weergegeven als uw testresultaat hoger is dan 33,3 mmol/L. Mogelijk hebt u ernstige hyperglycemie (een zeer
hoge bloedglucosewaarde). Test uw bloedglucose opnieuw. Als het resultaat opnieuw HOGE GLUCOSE is, duidt dit op een ernstig
probleem met de controle van uw bloedglucose. Neem onmiddellijk contact op met uw arts/diabetesverpleegkundige.
Herhaaldelijk onverwachte bloedglucoseresultaten
Als u voortdurend onverwachte resultaten krijgt, moet u het systeem met controlevloeistof controleren. Zie deel 5 Testen met
controlevloeistof.
Als u symptomen hebt die niet in overeenstemming zijn met de resultaten van de bloedglucosetest en u alle in deze
gebruikershandleiding beschreven aanwijzingen hebt gevolgd, dient u contact op te nemen met uw arts/diabetesverpleegkundige.
Negeer nooit symptomen en breng nooit belangrijke wijzigingen in uw diabetesbehandelplan aan zonder eerst uw arts/
diabetesverpleegkundige om advies te vragen.
Ongewoon gehalte rode bloedcellen
Een hematocrietpercentage (percentage van het bloed dat uit rode bloedcellen bestaat) dat zeer hoog (hoger dan 60%) of zeer laag
(lager dan 20%) is, kan een onjuist resultaat veroorzaken.
Onverwachte testresultaten interpreteren
Raadpleeg de volgende aandachtspunten als uw testresultaten hoger of lager zijn dan verwacht.
Testen met een bloeddruppel uit onderarm of handpalm
Met het OneTouch® Verio™ systeem kunt u een bloeddruppel testen uit de vingertoppen, de onderarm of de handpalm. Soms kunnen de
testresultaten van bloed dat is afgenomen uit de onderarm of handpalm afwijken van de testresultaten van bloed dat afkomstig is van
een vingertop. Overleg met uw arts/diabetesverpleegkundige voordat u uw onderarm of handpalm gaat gebruiken voor het afnemen
van bloeddruppels.
