Use Transporting the Canto Nxt
Manual wheelchair
If you have a manual Canto Nxt, the brake
is integrated in the hub of the wheel with
handrim. In addition, each wheel can be
braked forwards or backwards by means of
moving the brake lever.
Intensive or long-term use of the brake may
reduce the braking power. You should then
adjust the brakes.
Use a (3 mm) Allen key to turn the set screw
underneath the brake lever half a turn.
Check that the braking power is now
adequate. Adjust it again if necessary.

Taxibus
The Canto Nxt has been tested positively by the
TNO as ‘crash test-proof wheelchair’ in compliance
with ISO 7176-19. The Canto Nxt can therefore be
transported, with user, in a taxibus (see also the sticker
on the wheelchair).
Whether the wheelchair user can be safely transported
depends, however, on the state of his or her health;
the user’s physician should be consulted.
Life & Mobility advises that the user be transferred
from the Canto Nxt to a fixed seat, if possible.
n The Canto Nxt has been dynamically tested in a
forwards direction, with the test dummy (75 kg)
secured with a hip belt and a shoulder belt. Its
suitability in other collisions (e.g. lateral) has not
been tested.
n The Canto Nxt has been tested in the various
configurations. The critical configurations with
the Snellius and Kelvin seat elements and Matrixx
headrests are also ‘crash test safe’.
n The chair must be fitted with a Matrixx headrest.
n The Canto Nxt must be fastened to the floor of the
taxibus with a four-point securing system.
N.B.: if there is no crashtest safe sticker on
the wheelchair, it is not a wheelchair which
can be transported safely.
N.B.: the Canto Nxt frame is only crash test
safe in combination with Matrixx seat ele-
ments and Matrixx headrests.
n The positions of the four attachment points on
the Canto Nxt are indicated with a hook symbol
sticker (see figure 2).
