Onderzoek heeft uitgewezen dat het aanhouden van een specifieke hartslag bij de training de optimale wijze is om de
intensiteit van de training te meten en de beste resultaten te bereiken. Hierop is de trainingsmethode Heart Rate Zone
Training® (hartslagzonetraining) van Life Fitness gebaseerd.
Zonetraining bepaalt iemands ideale hartslagbereik, of hartslagzone, voor het verbranden van vet of het verbeteren van
de cardiovasculaire conditie. De zone is een percentage van het theoretische maximum (HRmax) en de waarde hangt af
van de training. De formule voor de maximale hartslag is gedefinieerd in de Guidelines for Exercise Testing and
Prescription(Richtlijnen voor het testen en voorschrijven van trainingen) van het American College of Sports Medicine,
8e editie, 2009. HRmax komt overeen met 206,9 minus het totaal van 0,67 vermenigvuldigd met de leeftijd van de
desbetreffende persoon.

Opmerking: Het verdient aanbeveling een fitnesstrainer te raadplegen voor het bepalen van specifieke fitnessdoelen en
het opstellen van een trainingsprogramma.
De HeartSync-trainingsprogramma’s meten de hartslag. Draag de telemetrische hartslagborstband of pak de
contacthartslagsensoren vast zodat de ingebouwde computer van de loopband tijdens de training de hartslag kan
meten. De computer past de helling aan de hand van de gemeten hartslag automatisch aan om de streefhartslag te
handhaven.
