The following factors promote the formation of frost or ice:
- The appliance is opened frequently.
- Hot food is put in.
One day before defrosting:
uActivate SuperFrost (see 6.3 Functions) .
wFrozen goods have a “residual coldness”.
uSwitch off the appliance .
uPull out the mains plug or switch off the fuse.
uPlace cold storage accumulators on top of the frozen
produce.
uWrap the frozen produce in newspaper or blankets and
store in a cool place.
uPlace a pan of hot water (not
boiling) on the middle shelf.
wThis speeds up the defrosting process.
uLeave the appliance door open during defrosting.
uRemove loosened pieces of ice.
uMake sure that there is no melted ice water in the
cabinet.
uSoak up the melted ice water with a sponge or cloth
several times as necessary.
uClean the appliance (see 8.6 Cleaning the appliance) .
8.6 Cleaning the appliance
8.6.1 Ready
WARNING
Danger of electric shock!
uRemove the refrigerator connector or interrupt the power
supply.
WARNING
Risk of fire
uDo not damage the refrigeration circuit.
uEmpty the appliance.
uRemove mains connector.

8.6.2 Cleaning the interior
NOTICE
Improper cleaning!
Damage to the appliance.
uOnly use soft cleaning cloths and ph-neutral all-purpose
cleaners.
uDo not uses abrasive sponges or steel wool which may
cause scratches.
uDo not use any sharp or abrasive cleaning agents, nor
any that contain sand, chloride or acid.
uPlastic surfaces: clean by hand with a soft clean cloth,
lukewarm water and a little detergent.
uMetal surfaces: clean by hand with a soft clean cloth,
lukewarm water and a little detergent.
uDrain hole: remove deposits using a thin item (for
example a cotton bud).
8.6.3 Clean the components
NOTICE
Improper cleaning!
Damage to the appliance.
uOnly use soft cleaning cloths and ph-neutral all-purpose
cleaners.
uDo not uses abrasive sponges or steel wool which may
cause scratches.
uDo not use any sharp or abrasive cleaning agents, nor

- Fruit & Vegetable safe cover
- Drawer
Please note: Do not remove the magnet on the drawer.

- Adjustable bottle shelf
- Freezer tray*
Clean with a damp cloth:
- Retractable rails
Please note: The grease in the tracks is used for lubrica‐
tion and must not be removed!
Wash in the dishwasher up to 60 °C:
- Door rack
- VarioBox
- Bottle rack
- Shelf
- Dividing shelf
- Holder of the dividing shelf
- HydroBreeze water tank and water tank lid*
- Drip tray*
- Egg rack
- Butter dish
- Ice cube tray
- Ice cube scoop*
uTo disassemble components: see the relevant section.
uClean the components.
8.6.4 Cleaning the InfinitySpring*
You can clean the InfinitySpring outlet and around it without
disconnecting the appliance from the mains.
Cleaning is required in the following cases:
qInitial operation
qIf out of use for more than 5 days.
uPress the bottom pushbutton of the dispenser.
wThe outlet unit moves out.
uClean the water outlet and around it with a soft, clean
cloth, lukewarm water and some detergent.
uRelease the bottom pushbutton.
uDraw 2 l of water from the InfinitySpring and dispose of
it.*
8.6.5 Cleaning the HydroBreeze*
Cleaning is required in the following cases:
qInitial operation
qHydroBreeze is off for more than 48 hours.
qRefill the water tank.
Ensure that the following conditions are met:
qHydroBreeze is off (see HydroBreeze*) .
qWater tank has been removed and cleaned in the dish‐
washer.
uWipe out the recess with a damp cloth.
