Reheating Cooked Chilled Foods
Displayed on the food packages will be the cooking times for each of the
BAND categories. For example: A may be 10 minutes. B may be 9 minutes
etc depending on the food type.
When applying this method for reheating cooked chilled food stuffs, the
following information must be adhered to:
1 The microwave output power of this oven must be set at maximum
power level. (refer to instructions)
2 Refer to the cooking instructions given on the packaging.
3 As with all cooked food, check for evenness of cooking and ensure that
foods are piping hot, prior to consumption.
The oven has been tested and labeled to the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries
and Food (MAFF) agreement, concerning the reheating of cooked chilled
food.
The heating characteristics and output power levels of oven with microwave
function are usually calculated using a 1000 gram load, (IEC 60705).
However, at smaller loads the heating characteristics of the oven with
microwave function change. Most prepacked food normally falls into this
category, usually being packed in smaller individual portions of approx. 350
grams. Therefore, it was clear that a new approach for reheating this type of
food was required.
MAFF working in partnership with the food companies and oven(with
microwave function) manufacturers such as ‘LG electronics’ have overcome
this problem by the introduction of heating categories.
Because you may not yet be familiar with this system, we have used the
following explanation as an example. However, please refer to the actual
rating as printed on the oven door.
