Single pictures can be taken with sound recording for
a maximum of 5 s, for example accompanying sound
or commentary on the picture.
Notes:
• Sound recordings are not possible together with
exposure series (
7
), automatic exposure bracket-
ing (
k
) or with raw data storage (RAW). Video
recordings (
ü
) always include sound.
• The microphone (1.4) for sound recording is
located on the front of the camera, thus mainly the
ambient noises of the subject are recorded.
Setting the function
1. In the main record menu

follow the further menu instructions.
• The monitor shows the corresponding display

2. Press the shutter release button (1.13) all the way
down to take the photograph.
• The large microphone symbol in the center of the
monitor flashes, while the 5 black triangles below
it, showing the expired and remaining recording
time, turn red successively at 1s intervals
(2.1.33).
Note: It is not necessary to hold the shutter re-
lease button to continue sound recording.
Sound recording can be stopped at any time by press-
ing the shutter release button all the way down again.
Sound recording ends automatically after 5 s.

MOTION IMAGE
You can also use the LEICA DIGILUX 2 to produce
video recordings. They are made in QuickTime (Movie)
format with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Whereas
the resolution is a fixed preset, a picture frequency of
between 10 fps and 30fps can be chosen. The possi-
ble duration of your recording sequences depends on
the capacity of the memory card you are using. The
64 MB card included with the camera allows you
recording times of around 6 minutes or 2minutes.
The software required for review can be found on the
CD ROMs supplied, or it can also be downloaded from
the Internet free of charge:

Note: Video recordings are always made with sound
recording

ONE TIME – after a single video recording, the
mode is deactivated,
or
ON – the mode is permanently activated (until it
is switched off in the same way).
The picture frequency is selected with the
