General safety instructions:
• Do not look directly into the laser beam! The laser must never be allowed to
shine into people’s eyes, whether intentionally or accidentally.
• The laser must be kept out of reach of children and juveniles.
• Do not point the laser beam unnecessarily towards persons.
• Always keep the eyes at least 15 cm away from the reflection of the laser
beam on a surface. Lasers can generate dangerous reflexes.
• Under no circumstances should optical instruments (magnifying glass,
microscope, binoculars) be used to look at the laser beam or reflections.
• If possible, the laser beam should not run at eye level (1.60 m ... 1.90 m).
• Under no circumstances should objects be pushed into the laser beam or
waved across its path during active radiation.
• Do not use laser enhancement glasses as safety glasses. Laser enhancement
glasses are designed to assist detection of the laser beam; they do not
provide any protection against laser radiation.
• Compliance with applicable regulations set out by authorities responsible for
governing safe working practice is mandatory.
Protective measures:
• To avoid the risk of fire or explosion due to laser radiation, the area in which
the laser is being used must be free of flammable substances and explosive
atmospheres.
• Directly before a class 3R laser device is switched on, anyone present in the
area must be informed accordingly so that appropriate protective measures
can be taken.
• Reflective, specular or shiny surfaces must be covered whilst class 3R laser
devices are in operation.
