Section 9 TROUBLESHOOTING
9-20
Trouble
Black lines appear on
copies when you feed
originals from the Document
Processor (but they do not
exist on the originals
themselves).
A white band (unprinted
area) appears on copies
parallel to their direction of
ejection.
The copy image is skewed.
Paper jams occur often.
Checkpoint
Is the slit glass dirty?
Are you using paper which has already been
copied onto or was used previously?
Are you using high-resistance paper (paper
with a high-resistance surface such as that
used for both color and monochrome
copying)?
Were the originals set correctly?
Is the copy paper loaded properly in the
drawer[cassette]?
Is the copy paper curled, folded over or
wrinkled?
Is there any jammed paper or loose scraps
of paper remaining inside the copier?
Procedure
Perform the cleaning operation on the slit
glass, or make the lines less apparent by
turning black-line correction ON.
Make sure that the paper being used is
appropriate to the specifications for this
copier. Since there is a great difference in
the quality of paper that has already been
copied onto or was used previously, there is
a greater possibility of problems developing
when copying with such paper. When you
absolutely MUST copy onto used paper, it is
recommended that you make test copies or
take other precautions to ensure there is no
trouble with the finished copies BEFORE
continuing with the copy procedure. In
addition, in order to minimize the potential
for white, unprinted bands being generated,
you should select a “custom” paper type and
turn the “Paper type (for used paper)” setting
for that custom paper type ON.

When setting originals on the platen, align
them securely with appropriate original size
indicators.
When setting originals in the Document
Processor, align the original insert guides
securely according to the size the originals.
Load the paper properly.
Replace the copy paper with new paper.
Carry out the appropriate procedure to
remove the paper.
