Song operating mode
Save Song page
SAVE SONG PAGE
The new or edited Song is contained in RAM, and is
lostwhenturningtheinstrumentoff. TheSongisalso
lostwhenyouoverwriteitinBackingSequenceRecord
mode,or when switchingtotheSong Playmode. You
mustsavetoacardanySongyouwishtopreserve.The
Songissa
vedasaStanda
rdMIDIFile(SMF).
Note:WhensavingaSongasaSM
F,anemptymeasurein
automatically inserted to the beginning of the Song. This
measurecontainsvariousSonginitializationparameters.
1. Ifyouareinaneditpage,pressEXITtogobackto
theMainpage.
2. Sele
ct the Save Song button. The Save Song page
appears.
3. Moveth
efolderwhereyouwi
shtosaveyourSong
tothefirstlineofthedisplay,usingtheE–F(Scroll
Up) and G–H (Scroll Down) VOLUME/VALUE
buttons,ortheTEMPO/VALUE controls.PressF3
(OPEN) to open it. Close the current folder by
pressingF4(CLOSE).
4. Wheninthesel
ectedfolder,
youcansavetheSong
over an existing midifile (a file with a “.MID”
extension),orcreateanewmidifile.
Tooverwriteanexistingmidifile,move
ittothe
firstlineofthedisplay.
Tocreateanewmidifile,move
the
“NEW_NAME.MID”itemtothefirstlineofthe
display.
5. When the “NEW_NAME.MID” item is sel
ected,
pressoneoftheAVOLUME/VALUEbuttons.You
arepromptedtoassignanametothenewfile:
MovethecursorusingtheDOWN/‐andUP/+but
tons. Select a character using the DIAL. Insert a
character at the cur
sor position by pressing the
INSERT button. Delete a character at the cursor
positionbypressingtheDELETEbutton.
6. When you have finished wr
iting a name for the
new midifile, press F2 (SAVE) to confirm. The
“A r e you sure?” message will appear. Press
ENTERtoconfirm,orEXITtoabort.
Play/Mute status saved with the Song
When saving a Song, the Play/Mute status is saved
with the Song. This status is preserved when playing
backthesameSonginSongPlaymode.
Master Transpose saved with the Song
When saving a Song, the Master Transpose value is
savedwith the Song. Since this value is saved as Sys
temExclusivedata, it ispreserved whenplaying ba
ck
theSonginSongPlaymode.
Hint:SincetheMasterTransposeisaglobalparameter,load
in
gaSongwithanonstandardtranspositionmayre
sultin
unwantedtransposingwhenloadingotherSongsthatdonot
containtheirowntranspositiondata.TotransposeaSongit
is advisable to use the EditTranspose function; you can
accessthisfunctionbypressingtheMENUbuttonandone
of the E VO
LUME/VALUE buttons (see “Page 18‐Edit:
Tr
anspose”onpage100).

As a general ru
le, you should use the
Master Transpose
(TRANSPOSEbuttonsonthecontrolpanel)whenyouneed
totransposetheRealtimetrackstogetherwiththeSong.You
should use the EditTranspose function (Song Edit mode)
whenonlytheSonghastobetransposed.
Note: The Master Transpose value is always shown in the
upperrightcornerofth
edisplay:
REALTIME RECORD PROCEDURE
Here is the general procedure to follow for the Real
timeRecording.
1. PressSONGtoentertheSongmode.
2. Press RECORD to enter the Song Record
mode.
You are now in the Main page of the Song
Record mode
, and you can prepare your record
ing.(F

3. Be sure one of the Overdub or Overwrite rec
ord
ing options is selected (see “Rec (Record mode)”
onpage92).
4. Set
the tempo. There are two ways of changing
tempo:
Keep the SH
IFT button pressed, and use the
TEMPO/VALUE
controlstochangethetempo.
Move the cursor to the “Sel.Tempo” parameter,
and use the TEMPO/VA
LUE controls to change
tempo.
