Overall settings for the KROSS, and saving/loading data

Loading a .KEP file
.KEP (Korg EX PCM) files are files that manage option
expansion PCM and sound data.
These files include PCM data and sound data such as
parameters and programs.
When you load a .KEP file, the PCM data is loaded into
expansion sample memory. The parameter data is loaded
into the user area of internal memory. The expansion sample
memory has up to 128 MB of free space. (When calculated
as 48 kHz, 16-bit linear data)
1. Using your computer, copy the .KEP file that you
want to load into the KORG/KROSS2/DATA folder of
an SD card that was formatted by the KROSS.
2. As described in steps 1-3 of "Loading all programs,
combinations, drum kits, and arpeggio patterns" (see
page 126), select the .KEP file that contains the data
you want to load.
3. Choose the Load Selected function.
Press the FUNCTION button. Use the PAGE- () button
to choose Load Selected, and then press the MENU (OK)
button. A dialog box appears.
4. In Sound Data Allocation, specify how the sound data
such as the programs and combinations will be
loaded.
Append: The data will be loaded into vacant locations.
Clear: The data will be loaded starting at the beginning
of each user area.
Manual: The data will be loaded starting at the load
destination that you individually specify.
5. Press the MENU(OK) button if you want to execute,
or press the FUNCTION(CANCEL) button if you
decide not to execute.
Once you load sample data, it remains in memory even
after you turn off the power. If you want to remove
previously loaded data from user sample memory, use the
Unload PCM function in the EX-PCM page.
Note: The PCM data in a .KEP file is loaded into the free
area of expansion memory. Loading will not be possible if
there is not enough free area for the data to be loaded. You'll
need to obtain the necessary amount of free memory by
unloading the PCM data of a previously loaded .KEP file,
and then loading again.
Note: Depending on the size of the PCM data in a .KEP file,
loading might take a long time. Do not touch the switches or
controls of the KROSS while data is being loaded. Never
turn off the power of the KROSS during this time.
Loading a .KSC file
.KSC (Korg Script or Korg Sample Collection) files are
Korg-format PCM data files.
Sample data created by sampling-capable models such as the
KRONOS series, OASYS, M3, and TRITON series can be
loaded subject to the amount of available memory, and
played.
.KSC files contain links to sample data, including
multisamples, samples, and drum samples. When you load a
.KSC file, the sample data, including the .KMP files and
.KSF file linked to that file, are loaded.
Note: The Sampling mode data, .KMP file, and .KSF file
listed in the .KSC file are saved in the directory of the same
file name that is automatically created together with the
.KSC file when saving. When you load a .KSC file, place the
directory of the same file name in the same level as the .KSC
file on the SD card.
When you load a .KSC file, the PCM data is loaded into
expansion sample memory. The expansion sample memory
has up to 128 MB of free space. (When calculated as 48 kHz,
16-bit linear data)?
Note: You can load a .KMP (Korg Multisample Parameter)
file or .KSF (Korg Sample File) file into the KROSS, and
play it. (See Load KSC, Load KMP, and Load KSF on
Parameter Guide page 186.)
1. As described in steps 1-3 of "Loading all programs,
combinations, drum kits, and arpeggio patterns" (see
page 126), select the .KSC file that contains the data
you want to load.
2. Choose the Load Selected function.
Press the FUNCTION button. Use the PAGE- () button
to choose Load Selected, and then press the MENU (OK)
button. A dialog box appears.
3. Press the MENU(OK) button if you want to load, or
press the FUNCTION(CANCEL) button if you decide
not to load.
The data is loaded after the last-existing multisample and
sample number. The multisamples and samples that are
loaded at this time are packed so that only the actually-
used samples are loaded (Append load).
Once you load sample data, it remains in memory even
after you turn off the power. If you want to remove
previously loaded data from user sample memory, use the
Unload PCM function in the EX-PCM page.
Note: The PCM data in a .KSC file is loaded into the free
area of expansion memory. Loading will not be possible if
there is not enough free area for the data to be loaded. You'll
need to obtain the necessary amount of free memory by
unloading the PCM data of a previously loaded .KEP file,
and then loading again.
Note: Depending on the size of the PCM data in a .KSC file,
loading might take a long time. Do not touch the switches or
controls of the KROSS while data is being loaded. Never
turn off the power of the KROSS during this time.

  • During last night's gig, my Kross 2 started changing "Favorites" - one after the other - switching through the banks and sounds, while I was playing. What could cause that. It didn't do it all the time, just every now and then at random. Submitted on 4-9-2022 at 00:59
