A car window opens and closes thanks to
a spur gear system inside the door.
The handle is attached to a small gear.
This gear turns other gears inside the door
that move an arm holding the window.
The spur gears lie in the same plane but
turn in opposite directions. Since they are
also different sizes, they turn at different
speeds. The window moves slower than
you turn the handle because the small
gear connected to the handle turns a
larger gear. It is much easier to turn the
handle than to pull the window up or push
it down.
La fenêtre d’une portière de voiture
s’ouvre et se ferme grâce à un système
d’engrenages à roues droites à l’intérieur
de la porte. La poignée est connectée à
un petit engrenage. Cet engrenage fait
tourner d’autres engrenages qui agissent
sur un bras contrôlant la vitre de la
fenêtre. Les engrenages droits reposent
sur le même plan mais tournent dans
le sens contraire. Étant donné que leurs
tailles ne sont pas les mêmes, ils tournent
à des vitesses différentes. La fenêtre
s’ouvre ou se ferme à un rythme plus lent
que celui auquel vous tournez la poignée
parce que l’un des deux engrenages est
nettement plus grand que l’autre. Il est
beaucoup plus facile de tourner la poignée
que de soulever ou d’abaisser directement
la vitre.
