A well uses a wheel and axle to pull buckets of water up from the bottom of a hole.
The wheel is the handle you turn in a circle. The axle is the rod across the top that
the rope winds around. As you turn the handle in a big circle, the axle turns in a
small circle. The wheel does not need much force to travel a long distance. That
means turning the wheel to lift the bucket is easier than pulling the bucket up by hand.
