Objectifs
Les étudiants devront :
1. explorer comment une roue actionnant un axe peut augmenter la quantité de force
appliquée pour accomplir un travail.
2. étudier la relation entre le volant de direction, la colonne de direction et les roues
d’un véhicule.
Matériel
Chaque groupe de 2 ou 3 étudiants aura besoin de :
- 1 ensemble K’NEX Education Les Roues et
les axes et Les Plans inclinés ainsi que du
Livret d’Instructions
- Journal de l’étudiant
(un pour chacun d’eux)
Procédure
Introduction
Révisez comment le puits fonctionne grâce à une roue actionnant un axe pour augmenter la force et faciliter la
remontée d’un objet lourd.
Expliquez que les étudiants découvriront un
autre usage de la roue et de l’axe : l’utilisation
d’un volant de direction pour contrôler la
direction d’un véhicule à roues. Demandez
à la classe s’ils ont des idées à propos du
fonctionnement d’un tel mécanisme.
Demandez de quelle façon le volant de
direction diffère des autres types de roues et
axes étudiés jusqu’à présent.
Demandez aux étudiants d’apporter en classe des photographies de véhicules ou de machines fonctionnant
grâce à un volant de direction. Affichez les photographies de ces utilisations du volant de direction dans la vie
quotidienne et demandez aux étudiants de réfléchir en quoi leur vie serait différente si le volant de direction
n’existait pas.
La roue fait tourner un axe dans la colonne de direction
qui opère le système de direction du véhicule.
Il ressemble vraiment à une roue.
