Objectifs
Les étudiants devront :
1. découvrir comment un axe actionnant une roue augmente la distance et la vitesse de
déplacement d’un objet.
2. étudier en quoi l’augmentation de la taille de la roue augmente la distance sur laquelle
l’objet se déplace à chaque rotation.
Matériel
Chaque groupe de 2 ou 3 étudiants aura besoin de :
- 1 ensemble K’NEX Education
Les Roues et les axes et Les
Plans inclinés
- 2 petits blocs de bois ou de mousse
de polystyrène
- un Journal de l’étudiant pour
chaque élève
- Quelques élastiques solides
- Un accès à un évier ou une
bassine relativement large
Un moteur fait tourner un axe qui actionne une très
grande roue.
Procédure
Introduction
Révisez comment l’utilisation d’une roue pour faire tourner un axe, dans le modèle du puits, augmente la force
et facilite la remontée d’un objet.
Expliquez aux étudiants qu’ils observeront maintenant un usage différent de la roue et de l’axe. Ils construiront
un bateau à aubes et découvriront comment la roue et l’axe facilitent le déplacement du bateau sur l’eau.
Demandez aux étudiants d’observer la photographie du bateau à aubes à la page 4 de leur Livret d’Instructions.
Demandez à la classe de penser à quelques
endroits où les bateaux à aubes sont
toujours utilisés de nos jours. Demandez
si quelqu’un sait ou croit savoir comment
ces bateaux fonctionnent.
