Recording on MD
Basic section
3. Prepare the recording source.
5. Start recording.
÷ When recording a CD, pressing the CD 6 key after step 1 starts play-
back of CD and recording of MD simultaneously. (CD sync recording)
÷ When it is required to adjust the recording level of an AUX source com-
ponent, adjust it during record-pause.

1 Press the MD rec key (the unit enters record-pause mode).
2 When the preparation is complete, press the MD rec key
again.
3 Start playback of the source. (This step is not required when
recording the Tuner input.)
TUNER (Radio) : Receive a station.
CD : Put the CD player in record-pause mode at
the beginning of the track to be recorded.
TAPE : Search the beginning of the section to be
recorded and put the tape deck in record-
pause mode there.
AUX (Auxiliary input) : Make the source component ready for re-
ception or playback. Ø
4. Set the recording mode.
1 Press the menu key to select "MD REC MODE", then press the
set/demo key.
2 Turn the volume/multi control knob to select the desired re-
cording mode, then press the set/demo key.
3 When "LP2" or "LP4" is selected in step 2, turn the volume/
multi control knob to select "LP : STAMP on" or "LP : STAMP
off", then press the set/demo key

Turning the knob switches the display contents.
"STEREO" : Stereo audio can be recorded for the same time
period as the figure indicated on each MD cartridge.
"LP2" : Stereo audio can be recorded for twice the figure of
time indicated on each MD cartridge. ("LP 2" light up)
"LP4" : Stereo audio can be recorded for four times the figure
of time indicated on each MD cartridge. ("LP 24" light up)
"MONO" : Monaural audio can be recorded for twice the
figure of time indicated on each MD cartridge. ("MONO"
light up)
Turning the knob switches the display contents.
"LP : STAMP on" :
Characters "LP :" are input at the beginning of
each track title.
"LP : STAMP off" : Characters "LP :" are not input at the beginning of
each track title.
Discs or tracks recorded in the LP2 or LP4 mode will produce no sound if
they are played back on a player which is incompatible with the LP2 or LP4
mode. When a disc is expected to be MDLP-incompatible players, record it
in the STEREO or MONO mode.
