Battery information system
An operating panel with 5 LEDs and a switch
(‘Push’) is located on the outside of the battery.
The LEDs light up when the ‘Push’ button is
pressed. You can obtain different information
depending on the number and the way in which
the LEDs light up.
Checking the current battery status:
Press the ‘Push’ button briefly – the LEDs light up and you can see the current
battery charge level.
5 LEDs light up: 80 - 100%
4 LEDs light up: 60 - 80%
3 LEDs light up: 40 - 60%
2 LEDs light up: 20 - 40%
1 LED lights up: 10 - 20%
1 LED blinks: 0 - 10%
E means: the battery is empty (flat).
F means: the battery is fully charged.
Checking the current battery capacity:
Press the ‘Push’ button for longer than 5 seconds – the LEDs display
the capacity of the battery.
5 LEDs light up: the capacity is 10 - 8 Ah
4 LEDs light up: the capacity is 8 - 6 Ah
3 LEDs light up: the capacity is 6 - 4 Ah
2 LEDs light up: the capacity is 4 - 2 Ah
1 LED lights up: the capacity is 2 - 0 Ah
Check the battery charge level before every journey in order to determine
whether or not it is sufficient for the planned distance.
In winter the range of the battery is reduced in comparison with its original
output. Only install the battery (out of a warm room) in your Pedelec shortly
before the journey. This way you can prevent the range being shortened by the
low temperatures. A diagram of this is shown in chapter 9 , ‘Technical data’.
The range can vary depending on topography, riding behaviour, battery
condition and the selected level of assistance.
All if LEDs blink in series or in a group (2 or 3 diodes), then the battery is
damaged.
Before having it checked by your dealer, please place the battery in the charger
for a minute and then test it again.
About the battery lifetime
Batteries are consumable parts. Consumable parts are also guaranteed for 2 years.
We will naturally replace the battery if a defect occurs during this period. The
normal aging and wear and tear of the battery do not represent material defects.
The lifetime of the battery is measured in units of time or charging events.
It is 3 to 4 years or around 500 charging events. That is equivalent to around
20,000 km. If it has been cared for properly, the battery will have a residual
capacity of 6 Ah after that. If the residual battery range is sufficient for you,
you can naturally continue to ride with it! If the capacity is no longer suffici-
ent, you can have the battery disposed of properly by your dealer. You can also
purchase a new battery here.
The longest lifetime will be achieved if the battery is recharged even after
short journeys. The Panasonic Li-ion battery has no memory effect. By partially
charging it up, the number of possible charging events increases. Instead of
riding until the battery is as empty as possible and charging it rarely
(e.g. 500 x full charge), you should attempt to charge it earlier (e.g. 1500 x
partial charge).
You can also extend the battery life by using the assistance purposefully.
If you avoid riding in hard-to-pedal gears with a high level of assistance, this
will also prolong the battery life.
