Set the desired pedalling cadence using the twist-grip
shier. You can choose between 12 dierent pedalling ca-
dences. The rther forward you move the twist-grip shi-
er, the faster the pedalling cadence becomes. The number
of boxes lit up in orange increases. The rther back you
move the twist-grip shier, the slower the pedalling ca-
dence becomes. The number of boxes lit up in orange de-
creases. The orange LEDs indicate the exact setting.
You cannot shi through the entire gear ratio range
of the NuVinci Harmony gears when the bike is sta-
tionary. If you shi between gear ratios with a large
dierential when the bike is stationary, the Harmony
system will wait for the pedals or the bike to move.

Now decide whether you prefer manual or automatic
operation of the NuVinci Harmony gears. Press the mode
button to switch to the desired mode.
We recommend the automatic mode for riding in the
ERGO power-assist mode. Because as soon as you
start to ride in manual mode, you have to shi gear
manually to ensure that you do not exceed your target
heart rate.
8.1 Automatic mode
Set the desired pedalling cadence using the twist-grip
shier.
The pedalling cadence is the number of crank revolu-
tions within a specic period of time when riding.
You can choose between 12 dierent pedalling cadences.
The rther forward you move the twist-grip shier, the
faster the pedalling cadence becomes. The number of
boxes lit up in blue increases. The rther back you move
the twist-grip shier, the slower the pedalling cadence be-
comes. The number of boxes lit up in blue decreases. The
blue LEDs indicate the exact setting. Once you have found
your ideal pedalling cadence, you can ride without even
having to change gear once. The automatic mode adapts
the gear ratio to the rider’s preferred pedalling cadence.
