Troubleshooting
Problem: The projector is not running.
v Make sure that the power cord is properly connected to a fully functional ac electrical outlet. Make
sure that the power cord is also properly connected to the projector.
v If the projector is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is turned on.
v Make sure the projector is turned on.
Problem: Projector is running, but nothing appears on projection screen.
v Make sure you have removed the lens cap on the projection lens at the front of the projector.
v Check the projector lamp to ensure that it is securely connected in the lamp module. See Replacing
the projection lampon page 27.
Problem: Only the start-up screen displays.
v Verify that the cables are connected correctly. See for Connecting a computer to the projectoron
page 4 for connection procedures.
v Make sure that the cables do not have any bent pins.
v Verify that the proper input source is connected. See SourceSearch on page 18 to set the projector to
automatically detect the type of equipment you are using.
v You might need to turn off all of your equipment, then turn on everything again in the proper order.
Refer to your computer documentation to determine the correct order.
v Make sure the computer external video port is active. See Appendix C, Portable and mobile computer
activationon page 33 for some common keyboard commands, or your computer manual for details.
v Make sure your computer video adapter is installed and configured correctly.
v Make sure your computer has a compatible video adapter. This projector is not CGA or EGA
compatible.
If you are using Windows 98:
1. Click My Computer Control Panel Display.
2. Click the Settings tab.
3. Verify that the Desktop resolution is set to 1280 x1024 or less.
Problem: Color or text not visible on the projection screen.
Try adjusting the brightness or contrast until the text is visible. To adjust the brightness or contrast, see
Basic menuon page 12 for more information.
