• Antenne

Gerät, das elektromagnetische Wellen empfängt und aussendet. Hierzu gehören auch

Satellitenschüssel und Breitbandantennen.

• Forward Error Correction (FEC)

System, das Fehler bei Datenübertragungen erkennt und korrigiert.

• Frequenz

Anzahl von Schwingungen oder Ereignissen pro Sekunde. Die Einheit der Frequenz ist Hertz (Hz).

• Zwischenfrequenz (ZF)

Frequenz, auf die eine Trägerfrequenz beim Übertragen oder Empfangen verschoben wird.

• LNB-Konverter (Low Noise Block Downconverter)

Rauscharmer Mikrowellenverstärker und -konverter, der ein Frequenzband auf das ZF-Band

umsetzt.

• Packet Identifier (PID)

Zahlenfolge zum Kennzeichnen von Paketen innerhalb eines Datenstroms.

• Polarisation

Eigenschaft elektromagnetischer Wellen, die von der Orientierung des elektrischen Feldvektors

bestimmt wird.

• Vierphasen-Umtastung (QPSK, Quaternary Phase Shift Keying)

Phasenumtastung eines digitalen Signals, bei der vier Phasenlagen verwendet werden.

• Programm

Empfangskanal, auf den ein Decoder oder Fernseher abgestimmt ist.

• Transponder

Gerät, das automatisch Signale empfängt, verstärkt und auf einer anderen Frequenz wieder

aussendet.
