THROTTLE / CLUTCH LEVER
When the throttle lever is squeezed [1], the engine speed
increases and the clutch is automatically engaged. Driving power
is then transmitted to the rotating tines through the clutch system.
When the lever is released [2], the engine speed decreases
(idling) and the clutch is automatically disengaged. Driving power
is no longer transmitted to the rotating tines.
CAUTION :
When using this motor hoe, you must squeeze the throttle control
lever fully. If you only apply the lever half-way, damage may be
caused to internal parts.
ADJUSTING THE WORKING DEPTH
The working depth varies
according to the position of the
depth bar.
In most cases, the depth bar
should be set to position [4] or [5].
If the motor hoe tends to move
forward too quickly, the tines do
not go deep enough (hard earth)
or the handgrips are too low for
you, lower the depth bar by one
notch to position [3] or [4].
If the motor hoe digs too deep
(soft earth) or the handgrips are
too low, raise the depth bar by one
notch to position [5] or [6].
TRANSPORT WHEELS
Use the transport wheels [7] to
take the motor hoe to the location
where work is to be performed.
Select the appropriate hole so
that the handlebar is adjusted to a
height at which the motor hoe can
be operated comfortably.
Installation of wheels:
1. Switch off the engine and remove the spark plug cap [8].
2. Check that the fuel tank cap and the oil tank plug are properly
closed. Tip the motor hoe forwards so that it rests on the front
guard of the engine.
3. Remove the split pin [9] and then pin [10]. Remove the depth
bar [11].
4. Position the wheels at the desired height, lock the assembly with
pin [10] and split pin [9].
Before starting work, remove the rear wheel and install the
depth bar.
STOPPING THE MOTOR HOE AND
THE ENGINE
1. Release the throttle / clutch lever [12] to stop the tines.
2. Set the circuit breaker [13] to the "0" position to switch off the
engine.
3. Turn the fuel cock to the closed position [14].
MAINTENANCE
SERVICING AIR FILTER
A dirty air filter will restrict the inlet of air to the carburettor. To
prevent any malfunction of the carburettor, it is essential to perform
regular maintenance on the air filter.
1. Press the tabs [15] located on the
top of the air filter cover and
remove the cover [16].
2. Tap the filter [17] several times on
a hard surface to remove dirt or
use an air compressor (without
exceeding a pressure of 2 bars,
30 psi) to blow air through the
filter from the inside towards the
outside.
NOTE:
The paper element of the air filter must be dry in order to
work properly. Do not soak it with oil. Do not use a brush to clean
the element.
3. Use a damp cloth to wipe away dirt from the air filter cover [16]
and from the housing [19].
NOTE:
Check that no dirt has entered the air pipe leading to the
carburettor.
4. Reinstall the filter [17] and fit the filter cover [16] by inserting the
lugs [18] in the slots on the housing.
CHANGING THE ENGINE OIL
CAUTION :
Used engine oil can cause skin cancer if it is allowed to come into
contact with the skin repeatedly and for long periods. Even though
this is improbable unless used oil is handled every day, it is
nevertheless preferable to wash your hands with soap and water
as soon as possible after handling used oil. Used oil must be kept
out of reach of children.
NOTE:
Drain the oil while the engine is
hot to obtain quick and complete
drainage.
1. To drain the engine oil, remove the oil
filler cap/dipstick [20] and the oil drain
plug [21].
2. Reinstall the drain plug [21] and
tighten it fully.
