SPECIFICATIONS
The SPECIFICATIONS of this machine are listed in the table
on page 83.

All data subject to change without notice.
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
Drive shaft to exible shaft (Fig. 4)
Remove tube locking bolt (8).
Insert unholed end of exible shaft (9) into joint pipe of drive
shaft (10) to the end and tighten the tube locking bolt by
engaging the bolt to the slot of exible shaft.
NOTE
Make sure to align square end of exible inner shaft with
square hole of drive shaft by slightly rotating drive shaft
so that they are connected rmly.
Flexible shaft to engine (Fig. 5)
Pull up lock-pin (11).
Insert holed end of exible shaft into clutch case to the end
by rotating slightly.
Release lock-pin to lock in the location hole (12).
Installation of handle (Fig. 6)
Attach the handle to the drive shaft tube with the angle
towards the engine.
Adjust the location to the most comfortable position before
operation.
Make sure to securely attach the handle with the 4 bolts.
NOTE
If your unit has handle location label (13) on drive shaft
tube, follow the illustration.
Throttle wire / stop cord
Remove air cleaner cover. (Fig. 7)
Connect stop cords. (Fig. 8)
Insert the stay (14) under the nut (15) screwed onto the
outer end of the throttle wire (16) and connect the end of the
throttle wire (17) to the carburetor (18). Then tighten the nut
(15) to secure the throttle wire to the stay (14). (Fig. 9)
NOTE
Check that the carburetor throttle returns to the idle
position and also that it can be opened wide by operating
the throttle lever.
Cover throttle wire and stop cords together with protective
tube provided up to air cleaner cover. (Fig. 10)
Some models may come with the throttle wire and stop
cords already installed.
Installation of gear case cover (Fig. 11)
Attach the gear case cover (19) with the three screws,
making sure to align the notch (20) in the gear case with the
hole (21) in the gear case cover.
Installation of cutting attachment guard
WARNING
If an incorrect or faulty guard is tted, this may cause
serious personal injury.
CAUTION
Some cutting attachment guards are equipped with
sharp line limiters. Be careful with handling it.
NOTE
The guard bracket may come already mounted to the
gear case on some models.
Align the cutting attachment guard with the guard bracket
and secure it to the drive shaft tube, using the bolt and cover
bracket. Tighten the guard bracket rmly so that the cutting
attachment guard does not swing or move down during
operation. (Fig. 12)
Installation of cutting attachment
WARNING
Install the cutting attachment properly and securely as
instructed in the handling instructions.
If not attached properly or securely, it may come o and
cause serious and/or fatal injury.
Do not install or remove cutting attachments while the
engine is running.
Always use genuine HiKOKI cutting attachments and
metal ttings.
Installation of cutting blade (Fig. 13)
When installing a cutting blade, make sure that there are no
cracks or any damage in it and that the cutting edges are
facing the correct direction.
Align the notch hole of the cutter holder with the hole on
the gear case cover and insert the Allen wrench to stop
turning. Turn the xing nut clockwise and remove the xing
nut, protection cover, cutter holder cap, and toothed lock
washers.
The installation of the cutting blade is as follows: insert the
Allen wrench into the notch hole of the cutter holder and
the hole on the gear case. Then, install the cutting blade
(check the installing direction, as referring to Fig. 14), the
cutter holder cap, protection cover and toothed lock washers
onto the cutter holder in this order. Finally, tighten the xing
nut with the combi box spanner with a tightening torque of
22±2 N·m. Please note that the xing nut has left-handed
threads (clockwise to loosen/counter-clockwise to tighten).

CAUTION
When installing the cutting blade, set its center hole to
the convex part of the cutter holder and hold it with the
concave surface of the cutter holder cap. Then, tighten
the xing nut to prevent the cutting blade from being
eccentric. (Fig. 13)
After installing the cutting blade, be sure to remove the
Allen wrench and Combi box spanner.
Before operation, make sure the blade has been properly
installed. (Fig. 15)
Before operation, check the cutter holder cap under the
cutting blade for wear or cracks. If any damage or wear
is found, replace it, as it is an article of consumption.
NOTE
The blade must be retained with a new cotter pin each
time installed. (Fig. 13)
When installing or removing a blade, make sure to wear
gloves and place the blade cover over the blade.
CAUTION
Check a nut cover for wear or cracks before operation. If
any damage or wear is found, replace it, as it is an article
of consumption.
WARNING
When installing a cutting blade, make sure that there are
no cracks or any damage in it and that the cutting edges
are facing the correct direction.
Remove any surface grit from blade installation ttings.
Failure to do so may result in the loosening of nuts.
The protrusion of the cutter holder may become
misaligned with the blade while tightening nut. Before
operation, make sure the blade has been properly
installed. (Fig. 15)
Rotate the blade by hand and make sure there is no
rocking or abnormal noise. Rocking may cause abnormal
vibrations or result in the loosening of nuts.
