HP Manager
HP amplifiers are equipped with a microprocessor which manages all the functions to control
and protect circuits and connections. The LCD display and the LEDs enable to read immediately
the amplifiers state reporting in real time the information necessary to exploit its features 100%.
LCD Status Display
The Status Display is a dot matrix LCD with blue backlight. The Status Display enables to
visualize several information about the amplifier ant its operation: power supply voltage in
Volts at its terminal blocks, temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees, protections
triggered. When it is switched on for the first time after installation, the status display shows
the power supply voltage. Each time the “MODE” button is pressed afterwards it will display
the further temperature information. Once the amplifier has been switched off, when it is
turned on again the display will show the last information set before the switch-off. Then,
pressing the mode button, it enters the other functions. Every time the amplifier gets in
protection status the status display combined with the controls panel LEDs will display the
cause. The following pictures show the status display operation mode and the interpretation of
the protection messages of the status display and the LEDs.
Diagnostic LED description
The HP MANAGER microprocessor manages the amplifier and the audio system protections
system. HP amplifiers are protected against: faulty speakers or speakers with a lower
impedance than allowed, short circuit between the speaker cables or of one speaker cable
with the vehicle ground, overtemperature (> 75°C), output direct current, internal failure and
polarity inversion of the power supply cables. The Auto Reset function of some of the
mentioned protections usually reactivates the correct amplifier functioning, when the cause
has been eliminated (e.g.: after removing the short-circuited speaker, after replacing the faulty
speakers or connecting them correctly). Sometimes, instead, you will have to switch off the
amplifier in order to restore its functioning.
Here follows a list of the possible protection events with the information provided by the status
display and the LEDs and the relevant interpretation and procedure to restore the correct
functioning.
