HECO VICTA 701, 601, 501, 301 BI-WIRING AND BI-AMPING
Bi-wiringmeans usingseparatecables tocarry thehigh andlowaudiofrequencies.Bi-amping takes this
idea one step further and uses separate power amplifiers as well as separate cables for high and low
frequencies. Bi-amping inparticular producesan additional improvementin sound reproductionquality.
The special connection terminals of the Victa loudspeakers support both conventional connection and
operation in bi-wiring and bi-amping modes. There are four screw terminals on each speaker. The top
pair are for the tweeter (high frequencies), the lower pair for the woofer (low frequencies). The factory-
installedmetalstripsconnectingthepositiveandnegativeterminalsareforconventional2-wireconnection
and mustbe removedfor bi-wiringand bi-ampingoperation. The picturesbelow show thecorrect set-up
for conventional operation(Fig. 4a), bi-wiring(Fig. 4b) andbi-amping (Fig. 4c).

The Victa Center 101loudspeaker visuallyand acousticallyideally matchesthe other Victa models.The
loudspeakerisplacedimmediatelyonorunderthetelevisionset.Otherwisepleaseadheretothegeneral
recommendations outlined inthe previous chapters.
HECO VICTA SUB 251A
The Victa Sub 251A active subwoofer visually and acoustically ideally matches the other loudspeakers
in the Vica series. Please referto the separate operating instructions supplied withthis product.

HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE TO YOUR VALUABLE SPEAKERS
All HECOloudspeakers aredesigned and builtfor optimumsound reproductionwith thetone controls in
the central position i.e. with “linear” amplifier output. Turning up the bass and treble controls too far
delivers more power to the woofers and/or tweeters, and at high volumes this can actually destroy the
speaker units!
Iftheoutputofyouramplifierissignificantlyhigherthantheratedpowerhandlingcapacityofyourspeakers
extremelyhighvolumescanphysicallydestroyyourspeakers.Thisdoesn’tactuallyhappenoftenbutyou
should be awarethat it ispossible.
Weak amplifiers with low output ratings can actually be more dangerous for your speakers at medium
volumes because weak amplifiers may overload much faster than powerful ones and this causes
measurable and audibledistortion, which isextremely dangerous toyour loudspeakers.
Alwaysturnthevolumedownimmediatelyassoonasyouheardistortion!Ifyoulikelisteningtoloudmusic
makesure thatyouramplifiercan deliveratleastas muchpowerasthe speakers’power-handlingrating.
THE SOUND YOU CAN’T HEAR...
Amplifiers,tunersandCDplayerscanallproduceinaudiblehigh-frequencysignalsandthisdoesn’tonly
apply to cheap products. If your tweeters fail at low or medium volumes you should have a qualified
technician check yoursystem componentsfor dangerous inaudiblesignals.
