In Figuur 25 heeft het Duitse Leger in Munich een patstelling met het Oostenrijkse Leger in
Tyrolia, dus geen van beide verplaatst. De Duitse Legers in Ruhr en Silesia probeerden met
elkaar een patstelling te creëren in Munich. Het Oostenrijkse Leger in Bohemia gaf echter
stiekem ondersteuning aan de Duitse eenheid van Silesia naar Munich. In de meeste
gevallen zou deze ondersteunde aanval van Silesia naar Munich de niet-ondersteunde
aanval vanuit Ruhr verslaan. Maar aangezien dat er voor zou zorgen dat Duitsland een van
zijn eigen eenheden zou verdrijven, mislukt de verplaatsing.

Het volgende voorbeeld toont een situatie waarin je een zelfverdrijving order zou kunnen
schrijven om een patstelling te creëren. In sommige gevallen is dat een goede defensieve
zet.
In Figuur 26 kan Engeland zijn eigen eenheid niet verdrijven, maar zijn ondersteunde aanval
op Denmark is noodzakelijk om de ondersteunde Russische aanval op dezelfde provincie
tegen te houden.
