Dishwasher detergents, rinse aids and dishwasher salts

Setting the water hardness

level

Hard water leads to calcification of the dish-

washer, to extra consumption of dishwash-

er detergent, and to unattractive limescale

marks on the cookware. The purpose of the

dishwasher salt is to prevent this. You need

to set the water hardness level to determine

the correct dosage of dishwasher salt. Do this

preferably before using the appliance for the

first time.

Setting the hardness level

To determine the hardness of the water in

your place of residence, you can check on the

– website of your water provider.

– telephone your water supplier.

– purchase the relevant test strip at a phar-

macy.

Setting the hardness level

1. Close the dishwasher door.

2. Switch the device on with the On/Off but-

ton (2) and start setting the hardness level

within one minute of switching on.

3. Hold the Start/Pause button

(12) in

until the displays

(9) and (10) blink in

sequence.

4. Press the start/pause button (12) as

many times as necessary to display the

required hardness level.

The relevant hardness level is displayed via

the programme displays (3):

5. Around 5 seconds after you push it for the

last time, the dishwasher will automatical-

ly revert to the normal display.

The hardness level setting is saved.

Adding dishwasher salt

You do not need to add

dishwasher salt to the dishwasher salt

dispenser

– if you are only using multitabs which al-

ready contain dishwasher salt,

– if the water hardness in your area is in the

0–5° dH range.

NOTICE

Risk of damage!

You may damage the dishwasher, its

stainless steel surface, its seals and ﬁ l-

ters by using dishwasher salt in an im-

proper manner.

■ Only use regenerating salt which is

suitable for dishwashers.

■ Always wipe away split dishwasher

salt immediately with a damp cloth.

■ Immediately after adding the dish-

washer salt, launch a dishwashing

programme.
