The mouse Mice belong to the rodent family. They are omnivores, but mainly
feed on seeds, fruits and grains.
Depending on the species, their soft fleece can be different colors.
Mice are not only quick runners but can also jump, swim and
climb extremely well. The long hairless tail serves as a balancing
device.
Elephantastic!
The domestic mouse can already have young ones at 8-12 weeks.
After 20 days it can give birth to up to 6 little ones.
The sheep The “Moufflon” sheep is the ancestor of all bred species of
domestic sheep.
Sheep eat grass and herbs and just like cows are rumiants.
Sheep and goat are regarded as the oldest of all domestic
animals: humans already kept and bred these animals 8,000 years
ago, as they provide meat, leather, milk and wool.
Elephantastic!
The “Fox Coburg Sheep“ is a resistant and undemanding species.
While the lambs have a red fleece, the fleece of the adult is white
or a shimmering gold. The rams provide up to 4 or 5 kg wool per
year, the female sheep between 3 and 4 kg.
The snake There are many kinds of snakes. Snakes eat little rodents, fish,
birds, amphibians, reptiles or insects. They can’t chew or bite but
swallow their prey in one piece!
Snakes have a smooth skin with many scales.
At the tip of their tongue are located fine organs enabling them to
perceive aromatic smells: so the tongue not only serves the snakes
to feel but also to smell.
Elephantastic!
There are approximately 2.500 kinds of snakes of which only
approx. 200 are poisonous, particularly the bites of cobras and
rattlesnakes.

The frog Frogs are amphibians and carnivores. Their menu consists of
insects, spiders and little crabs. The tadpoles of nearly all frogs
feed from plants.
Frogs roam afar in order to meet at given inshore waters for
mating. Each breed has their own very special call; a roaming frog
can recognize by a particular call where to find frogs of the same
species. A frog can lay up to 2,000 eggs.
Elephantastic!
The colorful arrow poison frogs live in the rain forests in South
America. The Indians living there use the poison of these animals.
A drop of the poison on the point of an arrow is sufficient to
immediately paralyze little birds or monkeys.
The hare The European hare is a herbivore and feeds on different types of
grass, herbs and leaves
Hares have many enemies so therefore a hare is always very alert
and often raises himself up in order to check out their surroun-
dings. The long and extremely flexible ears tell him which direction
a sound comes from.
Hares have longer ears than rabbits: their ears can measure up to
15 cm/6 in!
Elephantastic!
All hares are quick runners with a lot of stamina, some of them
reaching up to 50 mph (80km/h)!
The lion Lions are carnivores and live in prides. The female lions are
responsible for hunting. After the hunt the animals meet, and the
eating then follows a strict order: the grown up male lions first,
followed by the lionesses and then finally the cubs.
The male’s imposing mane is not only decoration but also protects
their throat from dangerous bites and paw strokes.
Elephantastic!
Lions are extremely athletic and can jump up to 12.5 feet (3.80 m)
high and reach a speed up to 50mph (80km/h).
