Cooperative variation
The game can be played in a cooperative variation.
Now the children win together and there is no loser.
The rules of the basic game apply, with the following exceptions:
•Together the players collect the ingredients for a recipe. As each ingredient is only
needed once, the players agree who will collect which ingredient.
Each player puts their collected ingredient in front of them. So the cow for example
may only be fed by the player who collected the bay tile.
If two figures touch on the game board, they may interchange their collected
ingredients.
The game ends as soon as all the players have reached the farmhouse with their figures
and collected all the necessary ingredients.
Fertilizer variation
This variation can only be played with the problem cards showing a carrot. This variation
is a little more difficult as, in addition to the stages already described, the fertilizer has to
be applied to the carrots.
For little children, this stage is difficult to comprehend and therefore not included in the
basic game. Also, it is not shown on the back of the problem cards.
First explain to your children the relation between “cow-pat and fertilizer” and “fertilizer
and growth” - so the children can understand this important stage of the nutrition cycle.
The rules of the basic game apply, with the following exceptions:
At the beginning the cow-pats (=fertilizer) are placed on the places marked on the
pasture.
Before you can collect a carrot, fertilizer has to be applied to the carrot patch. To do so,
touch a cow-pat with your figure and place it in front of you.
•Then move your figure to the carrot patch. As you touch a carrot, fertilizer is applied to
the patch. As a reward you take a carrot and place it in front of you.
