La principessa sul pisello
C’era una volta una principe che era in cerca di una principessa.
Viaggió in lungo e in largo per trovare la donna giusta. Durante
il viaggio incontrò molte principesse ma nessuna era come lui se
l’era immaginata. Tutto triste tornò nel suo castello.
Una sera mentre fuori c’era un terribile temporale qualcuno bussò
al portone del castello. Il re fece aprire il grande portone e lì davanti
si trovava una ragazza. I suoi vestiti e i suoi capelli erano bagnati
dalla pioggia e sporchi di fango. Lei disse che però era una vera
principessa.
Per verificare se quello che diceva la ragazza era la verità, la regina
madre molto sospettosa decise di prepararle un letto tutto par-
ticolare in cui dormire: mise un pisello sulla base del letto e fece
accatastare molti materassi. Su ogni materasso fece mettere anche
una coperta di piume d’oca d’eider * delle più morbide. La
principessa avrebbe dovuto dormire su questo letto a torre molto
alto: una vera principessa si accorgerebbe che c’è qualcosa di
fastidioso nascosto sotto tutto questo mucchio, pensava la regina
madre.
Il giorno seguente venne chiesto alla ragazza come aveva
dormito: ”molto male”, rispose. ”non ho chiuso occhio tutta la
notte, perché nel mio letto c’era qualcosa di molto molto duro e
fastidioso”. A quel punto la famiglia reale ebbe la conferma che
si trattava di una vera principessa. Il principe prese la mano della
principessa e fu celebrato e bellissimo e grandioso matrimonio.

più soffice e morbida per le coperte: le oche stesse usano
le stesse piume per costruire i loro nidi: riempiono i nidi
di piume per tenere al caldo i loro piccoli.
