smoke pipes and the elbow. The hole (entrance point) in the chimney must be provided
with a metal stress ring (proper diameter). The smoke flue should ascent towards the
smoke uptake at angle approx. 10°.
4.4. Installation of the fireplace stove within the room
Before any installation work is started, you need to verify the floor (ceiling) load capacity.
The load conditions for the particular type of the device must be met (depending on the
particular weight). The fireplace stove must be installed on a heat insulating base that
overlaps the fireplace stove ground plan dimensions on the sides and in the rear by at least
100 mm; the overlap in the front (the direction of the feeding opening) is 300 mm. If a metal
base is used, the thickness must be at least 2 mm. Kindly pay attention to the information
provided in Supplement 1.
Caution! Make sure you provide space enough for easy approach to the device, smoke
flue and chimney for the purpose of cleaning.
4.5. Connection of the fireplace stove with an exchanger to the
heating system
Caution! Order the design and the installation of the warm water distribution system or
service water supply at a specialist company!
For any installation of warm water pipeline, the requirements on heat systems and
networks in buildings valid in the country of installation must be adhered to.
Related regulations:
Heat systems in buildings – Safety devices
Heat systems in buildings – Design and installation
Heat systems in buildings – Hot water production
Heat systems in buildings – Designing hot water heat systems
Heaters using fossil fuel designed for dwelling space
Built-in heat devices and stove inserts using solid fuel
Caution! According to Article 3 par. 2.3 EU Directive No. 97/23/ES “Pressure devices” the
necessity to provide the fireplace stove and fireplace inserts with an exchanger (solid fuel
loaded manually, used for preparation of warm water up to 110°C) with an overheat
safety element is subjected to approval. It means that if your fireplace stove with an
exchanger or the fireplace insert with an exchanger is not equipped with such a
safety element, it is not obligatory for the particular model!
The exchanger must be connected in the warm water distribution system with a threaded
element. For this purpose, the exchanger is provided with threaded outlets. Consult the
connection of the exchanger in the system with the specialist company that will install the
heat system in your house. The connection should be made by means of pressure flexible
armoured hoses to allow an option of disconnection or replacement when needed. This
way, the assembly (disassembly) of the exchanger is easier, and it is possible to put the
fireplace stove out of operation, providing access to the chimney, smoke flue elements
disassembly for cleaning, while an easy approach in the upper part of the burning area is
provided as well.
In case that you plan to use the fireplace stove for occasional heating of the room in which
the fireplace stove is installed (only), you need to “redirect” the capacity of the exchanger to
avoid heat overload: you need to redirect the capacity to another heat consuming appliance
(e.g. a water tank). You can also install such appliances in the room where the fireplace
stove is. If you do so, the operator may “redirect” the heat output by closing the valves of
the particular appliances or the whole branch supplying the heat to direct the heat intended
for other rooms just in those selected.
The connection with the accumulation is recommended only if you can guarantee the
consumption of at least 50 % of the nominal output by other appliances. (For example, you
can form a combination of accumulation tank and a heating body).
Such forced heating system may be protected against overheat by e.g. use of an open
expansion tank, by installation of a supplementary cooling circuit or a cooling exchanger
(loop). In case of electric power failure, the best solution is to use a back-up source for
circulating pump.
It is recommended to install thermostatic heads on the heating bodies (especially in the
room where the fireplace stove is installed).
Caution! The cooling exchanger (loop) is designed in such a way that full protection
against the exchanger heat overload is provided. To guarantee correct function and
working connection, you need to arrange for cold water input under constant pressure 2 bar
and temperature up to 15°C, i.e. the water source mus t be independent on electric power
failure (the best solution is the water mains). The cooling water is led from the cooling
exchanger in the sump.
Caution! To increase the service life of the exchanger and improve the initial phase of
heating with the forced systems, it is recommended to equip the pump with a switching
thermostat or thermoregulation valve.
Caution! The lowest part of the heating system MUST be provided with a recharge valve.
Caution! The fireplace stove equipped with an exchanger cannot be used without the
connection of the warm water distribution system and filling with heat-carrying medium,
i.e. water or frost-resistant fill recommended for this purpose.
4.6. Installation instructions and use of pressure expansion tanks
Order the installation of the expansion tank at a specialist company. Providing opportunity
to check the system from any side. The tank label must be well-visited. The tank must not
be installed in freezing conditions.
Pressure expansion tanks are classified the “special technical devices”, thus
subjected to the following:
An initial inspection in case of a newly installed tank, before putting into operation
A regular operation inspection once a year. Within the operation inspection, the gas
pressure is measured.
An inside inspection – once per 5 years.
A pressure test – once per 9 years.
Caution! The pressure of the gas in the expansion tank must not drop under 1 bar!
Caution! Always order the inspections at a specialist company.
Maintenance work must be carried out by an authorised service centre – once a year:
A visual inspection of the tank for damage and corrosion (replacement or proper action
as required)
Short release of the nitrogen valve (if water starts leaking, replace the tank or the
membrane)
Check the gas filling – the tank must be empty
Check the water filling within the system – the water temperature must be the same as
the ambient temperature
The specifications are informative only and must be adjusted to the regulations in force
in the country of installation.
