• Keep an eye out for the feeder cable. Do not pull the

cable. Do not use it for pulling the plug out of socket.

Keep the cable out of reach of heat sources, oil and

sharp edges.

• Avoid unintentional switching-on. Before plugging,

make always sure the appliance is switched off using

its switch button.

• Special extension cables to be used outdoors

only. For outdoor use, special extension cables

appropriate for this purpose and marked adequately

are needed.

• Be concentrated at all times. Pay attention to what

you are doing. Use common sense when working. Do

not use the electric tools if you are tired.

• Keep an eye out for damaged parts. Inspect the

appliance before using it. Are any parts damaged? If

there is any slight damage, seriously consider whether

the appliance is going to work safely and with no

faults.

• Prevent electric shock. Prevent body contact with

grounded items, e.g. water piping, heating elements,

cookers and fridges.

• Use approved parts only. Identical spare parts to be

used only for maintenance and repairs. For that

purpose, contact an authorised service centre.

• Warning! Any use of accessories and extensions not

explicitly recommended in these Operating Instructions

can put persons and items at risk.

• Make sure your body posture is stable

Avoid abnormal body posture. Ensure safe posture

and keep balance at all times.

• Do not leave adjusting keys in the appliance

Make sure you have removed all adjusting keys and

tools from the appliance before putting it into

operation.

Safety instructions specific for the appliance

• Wearing personal protective equipment is absolutely

necessary for all works with the appliance.

• To prevent eye injury, protective glasses should

always be worn.

• Check whether the guards are fitted properly before

you start working.

• Do not overload the appliance. Working in the

specified power range is better and safer.

• Cables should always be laid away from the appliance.

Protect the cables against excess temperatures, oil

and sharp edges.

• Unplug the appliance when executing repairs,

maintenance and when the appliance is not used.

• Works on electrical installation can only be executed

by electricians. Spare parts to be used only.

• Clean place of work makes working easier.

• Pay attention to what you are doing. Use common

sense when working.

• Do not use the appliance near flammable liquids and

gases.

• Use the appliance only in an appropriate environment

and do not expose it to wet and moisture.

• Always ensure corresponding lighting for your work.

• Do not use the cable to pull the plug out of socket.

• Switch the appliance immediately off and unplug it in

dangerous situations or when experiencing technical

difficulties.

• You must not continue in working if the appliance is

damaged. The machine must be unplugged and

damage removed before putting it into operation again.

• Aerating on slopes should always take place from left

to the right, never up and down.

• Never change the working height, i.e. height of wheels

when the engine is running.

Electrical safety

• The appliance has been designed to be used with an

alternating current source only. Never try to use the

appliance with any other current source.

• The appliance has double insulation. All outer metal parts

are therefore electrically insulated from the current source.

Double insulation represents higher electrical safety;

appliance grounding is therefore not necessary.

There might be short voltage failures in less powerful

electrical networks when the appliance is started. This may

influence working of other appliances, e.g. brightness

fluctuation of the lighting system. Such influences need not be

experienced if the network impedance is Zmax < 0.997 Ω (more

information can be obtained from your local electrical energy

supplier if necessary).

Behaviour in case of emergency

First aid kit must always be available in the place of your work

in case of accident in accordance with DIN 13164. Material

taken out of the first aid kit needs to be supplemented right

away.

Provide necessary first aid treatment corresponding to the injury

nature and seek qualified medical help as soon as possible.

Protect the injured person from other injuries and calm him/her

Use as designated

The verticutter is only suitable to be used around the house and

in the garden and must not be used for industrial purposes. The

appliance can only be used as designated. Any other use is in

conflict with its purpose.

Residual risks and protective measures

Direct electrical contact

Defective cable or plug can cause life-threatening electric

shock.

Always have any defective cables or plugs replaced by a

professional. Use the appliance only with connection with a

safety switch against stray current (RCD).

Indirect electrical contact

Injuries by conductive parts at exposed electrical or

defective construction elements.

The appliance must always be unplugged for maintenance

purposes. To be used only with a safety switch against stray

current (RCD).

Inadequate local lighting

Insufficient lighting represents a high safety risk.

Always ensure sufficient lighting when working with the

appliance.
