Note: While grilling remove the grill grate handles
because these get very hot. Always wear grilling
gloves when touching the grill grate handles.
Direct grilling (fig. H)
Direct grilling is understood to be when the
food is cooked directly over the heat source.
This method is suitable for foods that need less
than 25 minutes for cooking (e.g. steaks, cutlets,
vegetables).
Note: Cooking time can be further reduced by
closing the lid (4) and opening the ventilation
discs (3, 11).
1. Open the ventilation discs (3, 11).
2. Heat the fuel.
3. When the fuel is red-hot, spread it evenly in
the fuel grate (7) using a suitable metal tool.
4. Place the food on the grill grate (5).
5. Close the lid (4) and open it only to turn the
food over or to check its condition. To cook
the food evenly turn it halfway through the
cooking time.
6. Regulate the air supply with the ventilation
discs.
Indirect grilling (fig. I)
With indirect grilling the fuel is placed on the
fuel grate (7) in separate piles, left and right. The
food to be grilled is placed in the middle of the
grill grate (5). The food is cooked slowly and
evenly from all sides. This method is suitable for
foodstuffs that either need cooking for longer
than 25 minutes or that would dry out if direct
grilling were used (e.g. cuts of meat for roasting,
whole fish, fish fillets).
Note: The ventilation discs (3, 11) must be
open and the lid (4) must stay closed so that the
cooking space works in a manner similar to a
convection oven.
1. Open the ventilation discs (3, 11).
2. Heat the fuel.
3. Spread the red-hot coals right and left on the
fuel grate (7) using a suitable metal tool.
4. Place the food in the centre of the grill grate
(5). Close the lid (4).
