Troubleshooting
If the device does not work properly, check whether you are able to rectify the problem
yourself. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps that are listed, contact the cus-
tomer service department.
Do not attempt to repair an electrical device yourself!
Problem Possible cause Fix
The device cannot
be switched
on. / The operating
lamp
does not
light up.
The mains plug is not in-
serted correctly in the plug
socket.
Insert the mains plug.
The plug socket is defective. Try another plug socket.
No mains voltage is present.
Check the fuse of the mains
connection.
The
On / Off switch (10)
has not been pressed.
Press the On / Off switch
to switch on the device.
The fuse in
the fuse box is
triggered.
Too many devices connected
to the same circuit.
Reduce the number of de-
vices in the circuit.
Water runs out of
the device.
There is too much water in
the water tank (2).
Do not overfi ll the water tank!
The brewing position or
steam position have been
set.
Always turn the steam power
control (4) all the way to the
right and always press the On
/ Off switch to the Off posi-
tion when there is no vessel
under the portafi lter outlet or
the steam nozzle (5).
The drip tray (6) is full. Empty the drip tray.
The espresso runs
along the outside
of the portafi lter
(8).
The portafi lter is not inserted
correctly.
Check that it fi ts correctly
(see the “Handling and Oper-
ation” chapter – “Inserting the
Portafi lter into the Device”).
The rim of the portafi lter is
contaminated with espres-
so / coffee powder.
Clean the portafi lter and the
sieve insert (14).
Despite a pumping
noise, no water
comes out of the
device.
There is no water in the water
tank.
Pour water into the water
tank.
The water tank is inserted
incorrectly.
Take out the water tank and
insert it again. Make sure that
it fi ts correctly.
