Note:
If the power cord is not disconnected before
lifting the lid from the pot, a switch in the handle
will automatically switch off the heater and the
fan.
The timer remains active even when the oven is
not connected to the power mains.
Note:
When lifting the lid, be careful not to be scalded
by the steam coming from the pot.
DIFFERENT WAYS TO COOK IN A HALOGEN
OVEN
Roasting meat
Place the grid support in the pot. Place the meat
onto the grid and add as much water as needed
to cover the bottom. Cooking time depends on
the size of the chunk of meat and the desired
level of doneness.
Cooking meat in breadcrumbs
Roll chunks of chicken meat in flour, then in
eggs, and finally in bread crumbs. Then, quickly
dip the chunks in frying oil. Let the excess oil
drain. Place the grid in the pot and place the
meat onto the grid.
Frying potatoes
You can use the halogen oven to fry potatoes.
They will be just as tasty as from a deep fryer,
but much healthier as they will be done with less
fat. Briefly dip the potatoes in frying oil. Let the
excess oil drain. Place the grid in the pot and
distribute the potatoes evenly on the grid.
Baking cakes, bread, and biscuits
Place the low grid in the pot. Place the dough
into a round baking dish. Place the baking dish
onto the grid. There should be about 2 to 3
centimetres of space between the baking dish
and the pot walls to allow air circulation. Cover
the dough with aluminium foil. Make sure the foil
is folded over the edge of the baking dish. Before
the dough is entirely done, remove the foil to
cook the crust as well.
Baking cakes, bread, and biscuits in a halogen
oven is quicker. Therefore, check on the dough
during the baking process and adjust the cooking
time and temperature accordingly.
Searing/browning meat
Place the grid in the pot and place the meat onto
the grid.. Halfway through the browning process,
turn the thicker chunks of meat. Like with
roasting, cooking time depends on the size of the
chunk of meat and the desired level of doneness.
Sautéing/steaming vegetables
You can serve sautéed or steamed vegetables
with your main course. Make a bag out of
aluminium foil. Place the vegetables into the bag
and add a few drops of water. Add herbs and
spices to taste for more flavour. Close the bag
and place it on the bottom of the glass pot. Add a
cup of water. While the vegetables are cooked,
you can cook your main course on the grid.
Cooking fish
Fish can be cooked in the same way. Place the
fish in an aluminium foil bag, add some water,
lemon juice, herbs and spices, and optionally
vegetables. The fish will cook in the juice it
releases.
Reheating
The halogen oven can be used to easily and
quickly reheat bread or bread rolls. Place the grid
in the pot and place the bread or bread rolls onto
the grid. Toasted bread will have a crunchy crust
and soft crumb (centre).
Defrosting
Using a halogen oven, food will be defrosted
more evenly than in a microwave oven. Set the
temperature knob to defrosting position, select
the desired time and regularly check the
defrosting process every 5 to 10 minutes.
When reheating frozen ready-made meals,
subtract 20 °C from the temperature indicated in
the instructions on the packaging and only use
30 to 50 % of the reheating time as the
instructions on the packaging normally pertain to
reheating in a conventional oven.
TIPS FOR COOKING IN A HALOGEN OVEN
Before placing the food on the grid, you can mist
the grid with spray oil. Thus, the food will not
stick to the grid.
Always distribute the food across the grid in a
way that allows free circulation of air as this is
the only way the food will be cooked evenly.
During cooking, regularly check the progress in
the glass pot.
