Virtueller Server

Ein virtueller Server stellt einen Dienst im Internet bereit, der nicht auf ihm selbst, son-

dern auf einer anderen Netzwerkkomponente läuft. Das Gigaset SE681 WiMAX kann als

virtueller Server konfiguriert werden. Er leitet dann von außen kommende Anfragen an

einen Dienst über Port-Weiterleitung direkt an den passenden Port der betreffenden

Netzwerkkomponente im lokalen Netzwerk weiter.

WAN

Wide Area Network. Ein WAN ist ein Weitverkehrsnetzwerk, welches nicht auf ein räum-

lich begrenztes Gebiet beschränkt ist, z. B. das Internet. Ein WAN wird von einem oder

mehreren öffentlichen Anbietern betrieben, die privaten Nutzern den Zugang ermögli-

chen. Zugang zum Internet erhalten Sie über einen Provider.

Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access

WiMAX ist eine moderne Funknetz-Technologie, die eine schnelle Internetverbindung

auch in weit abgelegenen Gebieten ermöglicht, in denen keine andere Anschlussmög-

lichkeit (z. B. DSL) zur Verfügung steht.
