Flatrate
Abrechnungsart für einen Internet-Anschluss. Der Internet-Anbieter erhebt dabei
eine monatliche Pauschalgebühr. Für Dauer und Anzahl der Verbindungen entstehen
keine zusätzlichen Kosten.
Fragmentierung
Zu große Datenpakete werden in Teilpakete (Fragmente) unterteilt, bevor sie übertra-
gen werden. Beim Empfänger werden sie wieder zusammengesetzt (defragmentiert).

G.711 a law, G.711 μ law
Standard für einen Codec.
G.711 liefert eine sehr gute Sprachqualität, sie entspricht der im ISDN-Netz. Da die
Komprimierung gering ist, beträgt die erforderliche Bandbreite ca. 64 Kbit/s pro
Sprachverbindung, die Verzögerung durch Kodieren/Dekodieren jedoch nur ca.
0,125 ms.
„a law“ bezeichnet den europäischen, „μ law“ den nordamerikanischen/japanischen
Standard.
G.722
Standard für einen Codec.
G.722 ist ein Breitband-Sprach-Codec mit einer Bandbreite von 50 Hz bis 7 kHz, einer
Netto-Übertragungsrate von 64 Kbit/s pro Sprachverbindung sowie integrierter
Sprechpausenerkennung und Rauscherzeugung (Sprechpausenunterdrückung).
G.722 liefert eine sehr gute Sprachqualität. Die Sprachqualität ist wegen einer höheren
Abtastrate klarer und besser als bei anderen Codecs und ermöglicht einen Sprach-
klang in High Definition Sound Performance (HDSP).
G.726
Standard für einen Codec.
G.726 liefert eine gute Sprachqualität. Sie ist geringer als beim Codec G.711 jedoch
besser als die bei G.729.
G.729A/B
Standard für einen Codec.
Die Sprachqualität ist bei G.729A/B eher gering. Wegen der starken Komprimierung
beträgt die erforderliche Bandbreite nur ca. 8 Kbit/s pro Sprachverbindung, die Verzö-
gerungszeit jedoch ca. 15 ms.
Gateway
Verbindet zwei unterschiedliche Netzwerke miteinander, z.B. Router als Internet-
Gateway.
Für Telefongespräche von VoIP in das Telefonnetz muss ein Gateway mit IP-Netz und
Telefonnetz verbunden sein (Gateway-/VoIP-Provider). Er leitet Anrufe von VoIP ggf. an
das Telefonnetz weiter.
