Note:
If there is an excessive scale build-up, the de-scale message 'dESC' will scroll
across the screen. Follow the step-by-step instructions below.
Allow approximately 30-40 minutes to complete the entire de-scale process.
1. Empty the water tank.
Prepare the coffee brewer for a brewing cycle using the gold tone filter, 'PRE-
GROUND' function and carafe mode, but do not fill in any coffee powder.
Select the maximum number of cups ('AMOUNT 12'), empty the carafe and
place the carafe with the lid closed securely in the coffee brewer. Start the brew-
ing cycle without any coffee powder in the coffee basket. See: ›Emptying the
Water Tank‹.
2. Descale the coffee brewer:
a) Pour 150 ml of Gastroback Premium Descaler (Art.-Nr. 98175) into the water
tank. Then pour cold, preferably filtered water into the water tank until the LCD
screen displays ‘TANK 12’.
b) Rotate the CUP | CARAFE dial to select 'AMOUNT 12'.
c) Ensure the carafe is empty and the lid is securely locked. Place the carafe into
position under the drip stop outlet.
d) Press and hold the STRENGTH button for 5 seconds to begin the de-scaling pro-
cess.
Note:
You cannot stop the de-scaling process mid cycle. Force a stop by unplugging the
power cord from the power outlet.
e) When the de-scaling process is finished, the LCD screen will display 'READY'.
f) Discard the water from the carafe and rinse thoroughly.
g) Press MENU | EXIT to return to the main screen.
3. Rinse the coffee brewer.
a) Fill the water tank with cold preferably filtered water until the LCD screen dis-
plays 'TANK 12'.
