DESCALING
Depending on the water hardness of your tap water, you should descale the coffee
maker regularly (at least monthly). We recommend the Gastroback Premium Desca-
ler. Alternatively, you may use a solution of 200 ml white vinegar and 800 ml clear
tap water. For further information feel free to contact the Gastroback customer ser-
vice, Tel.: (+49) 4165 / 2225-0.
CAUTION – Do not use any unsuited descaling agent, because this could
damage the appliance. Only use a descaling solution, suitable for coffee makers.
1. Clean the coffee machine according to the instructions above.
2. Prepare 1.0 litre descaling solution according to the instructions given by the
vendor. Fill the descaling solution into the water tank and leave it within the
water tank for various hours (over night).
3. Without filter and coffee powder prepare the appliance for operation (see:
‘Preparing the Appliance for Operation’). Ensure good ventilation.
4. Touch the on/off button to switch on the appliance (all buttons on the control
panel are illuminated). Touch the grinder button for de-activating the grinder.
Ensure that the grinder button is shown red.
5. Touch the on/off button to start operation. Wait until the water tank is completely
empty and the acoustic signal sounds.
WARNING – The descaler solution in the steel carafe is very hot. Do not
breath in the vapours of any type of descaler to avoid severe injuries to your
respiratory tracts. Ensure good ventilation when pouring the descaler solution. Avo-
id spilling the descaler solution to avoid scalds and damage.
6. Discard the descaler solution.
7. Fill the water tank up to the filling level 8 and re-place the steel carafe on the
base plate. De-activate the grinder (grinding button illuminates red). Start ano-
ther brewing cycle and wait until the water tank is empty again and the signal
sounds. Discard the water in the steel carafe.
8. Repeat step 7 twice.
9. Rinse the steel carafe, carafe lid and filter basket thoroughly under running tap
water. Thereafter, the appliance is ready for brewing coffee again.
