Note:
During operation and in standby mode, the POWER button may flash occasional-
ly, indicating that the espresso machine keeps the correct temperature of the group
head.
Perform the following steps, when the espresso machine is in standby mode, with the
POWER button illuminated continuously.
1. Ensure that the water tank is filled to the MAX filling level and the drip tray is
completely empty and installed correctly.
2. Place a sufficiently large vessel (e.g. a large mug or bowl) on the drip tray, below
the group head. Turn the hot water / steam wand to ensure that it is pointing into
the vessel, but not placed directly under the group head.
WARNING: During the purging process, large amounts of hot steam and hot
water will escape from group head and hot water / steam wand. Additionally, hot
water may splash. Keep a sufficient distance to the appliance. Ensure to empty the
used vessel in time!
While doing so, keep in mind that the contents and vessel will
be hot. Keep an eye on the filling level in the water tank and refill the water tank in
time.
3. Turn the selection dial CLOCKWISE to run hot water through the group head.
After approx. 10 -15 seconds, turn the selection dial back to the vertical position
(OFF).
IMPORTANT: During the purging process, observe the filling level in the water tank.
Ensure that the filling level will not drop below the MIN marking. Before removing the
drip tray, always wait approx. 30 seconds after the last operation of the appliance,
then press the POWER button to switch off the appliance. Otherwise, hot water could
escape due to the backflush system of the machine. With the drip tray emptied and
re-installed, press the POWER button again.
4. Wait, until the POWER button is illuminated continuously again. Ensure that the
hot water / steam wand is directed to the drip tray or into the vessel used. Then
turn the selection dial COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to run hot water through the hot
water / steam wand. After 10 -15 seconds, turn the selection dial back to the
vertical position (OFF) to stop the water flow. Wait, until the POWER button is
illuminated continuously again. Ensure that there is still enough water in the water
tank.
5. Press the STEAM button to select the steam function. Then turn the selection dial
COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to give off steam via the hot water / steam wand. After
approx. 10 seconds, turn the selection dial back to the vertical OFF position to
stop the steam function. Automatically, the STEAM button will go out and the hot
water function will be selected again.
