Working with the notebook
LCD screen
LCDscreenNotes
High-quality TFT displays are installed in notebooks from Fujitsu Technology Solutions GmbH. For
technical reasons, TFT monitors are manufactured for a specic resolution. An optimal, clear
picture can only be ensured with the correct re solution intended for the relevant TFT monitor. A
monitor resolution which differs from the specication can result in an unclear picture.
The screen re solution of the LCD monitor of your notebook is optimally set at the factory.
Permanently unlit or lit pixels
The standard of production te chniques today cannot guarantee an absolutely fault-free screen
display. A few isolated constantly lit or unlit pixels may be p resent. The maximum permitted number
of such faulty pixels is stipulated in the strict international standard ISO 13406-2 (Class II).
Example:
A L C D scre en monitor with a resolution of 1024 x 600 has 1024 x 600 = 614 4 00 pixels. Each pixel
consists of three subpixels (red, green and blue), so there are almost 1.8 million subpixels in total.
According to ISO 13406-2 (C lass II), a maximum of 2 pixels and 3 subpixe ls may be defective, i.e. a
total of 9 defective subpixels. T hat is approximately 0.0005 % of the entire number o f subpixels.
Background lighting
TFT monitors are operated with background lighting. The luminosity of the background
lighting can decrease during the period of use of the notebook. However, you can
set the brightness of your monitor individually.
Synchronising the display on the LCD screen and an external monitor
For more information, please refer to the chapter "
Key combinations" , Page
19 under "Display output, switch between".
Webcam
Webcam
Your notebook is e quipped with a webcam. Depending on the software used, you can use
it to take pictures, record video clips or take part in web chats.
The picture quality depends on the lighting c onditions and the software being used.
You can only operate the webcam with a particular ap plication (e.g. an Internet telephony
program or a video conferencing program which supports a webcam).
When using the webcam the notebook support must not wobble.
The webcam automatically adjusts itself to th e current light level. For this reason
the LCD screen may icker while the light level is adjusted.
Further information on use of the webcam and additional settings can be found
in the help function of the program which uses the webcam.
You will software to test your WebCam or on the Internet at "
http://ts.fujitsu .com/support".
