Set the Mode dial to “B”.
This is an automatic mode that allows you to
specify any of the settings other than the shutter
speed and aperture. This allows you to take
shots relatively simply in the same way as the
Shutter-priority Auto and Aperture-priority Auto
modes (program shift).

Program Shift is automatically cancelled in the following
situations:
i When the photography mode is changed
i When the flash is popped up
i When “
µ” EXTERNAL FLASH in the Main menu is set
to “ON”.
i When you switch to playback mode
i When the camera is switched off.
By turning the command dial, this mode allows
you to select different shutter speed and
aperture setting combinations without changing
the exposure setting. The shutter speed and
aperture setting are displayed in yellow when
the camera is in Program Shift mode.

When the brightness of the subject is outside the
camera’s brightness metering range, “ ” is displayed
as the shutter speed and aperture setting on the screen.
