To transport a child in a child seat lo-
cated behind the rider’s seat, do not
use a suspension seat. Children may
trap their ngers in this system. You
can prevent a child from getting its n-
gers between the winds of the spiral
suspension by completely covering
the suspension under the seat. The
same applies for parallelogram-type
seat posts. The moving levers of the
suspension seat posts can be dan-
gerous. Prevent the child from reach-
ing into this part.
Children must always wear safety
belts. Otherwise there is a danger of
the child falling out and being seri-
ously injured.
Children should always wear a well-
tting bicycle helmet to reduce the
risk of head injuries in the event of a
fall.
The handling of the e-bike is negatively
inuenced by riding with a child seat.
The additional weight can lead to the e-
bike swerving from side to side. You also
require a substantially longer braking
distance to stop. Practise driving with
the child seat loaded on an even terrain
with no trafc before your rst drive. You
should therefore adjust your riding style
accordingly.
The maximum permitted overall weight of the ve-
hicle and the maximum carrying capacity of the
luggage rack may not be exceeded when trans-
porting children in a child seat (see Chapter 23
“Technical data”. There is otherwise a risk of dam-
age to the luggage rack and frame ass well as the
possibility of severe accidents and falls.
19.2 Bicycle trailers and child trailers
Please inform yourself of the applicable
national guidelines before you use a
trailer, especially when transporting chil-
dren. Only use trailers which satisfy the
requirements of the applicable national
legal guidelines. The use of a trailer may
lead to severe falls and injuries.
It is not permitted to use a fast e-bike to
transport children in a child trailer in Ger-
many.
Ensure additional safety when riding with a child
trailer. Use clearly visible, colourful ags and ad-
ditional lighting elements. Only use tested and
licensed trailers and safety equipment.
Deciding to attach a trailer can will
have a negative effect on the FLYER
e-bike’s riding performance. You
should therefore adjust your riding
style accordingly. Otherwise there is a
danger that the trailer could ip over
or come off, which could lead to very
serious falls and accidents.
Bike trailers will signicantly extend
the overall length of your FLYER.
Practise setting off, braking, riding
around corners and on hills in a safe
place with an empty trailer.
The maximum permitted overall
weight of the vehicle also includes
the weight of the trailer and any other
load.
You may require a substantially long-
er braking distance to stop when rid-
ing with a trailer. Please take this into
account in order to avoid accidents.
Ask your FLYER specialist retailer
about the maximum permitted weight
of the trailer you may tow with your
FLYER.
Ask your FLYER specialist retailer
about the correct selection and instal-
lation of the trailer coupling.
19.3 Roof and rear carrier on a car
Only use rear carriers which satisfy
the applicable national legislation for
transporting your bike by car. The use
of rear carriers may lead to accidents.
Adjust your driving according to the
weight of your rear carrier.
In the case that you attach a trailer to
the bike, make sure to regularly check
if it is securely fastened to theFLYER
e-bike. If your FLYER falls out of the
carrier, it can cause serious acci-
dents.
Avoid transporting your FLYER on the
roof of a vehicle and always cover the
motor with a rain protector cover to
prevent it from becoming damaged.
It is strongly recommended to cover
the whole bicycle with a rain protec-
tor cover.
Please note that loose parts, such as
tools, luggage and tool bags, child
seats, air pumps etc. could fall off dur-
ing transport. This may put other peo-
ple on the road at risk. All loose parts
should therefore be removed from the
FLYER before you start riding.
