Formation of air bubbles
You can avoid this problem by apply-
ing the brake lever before transport
and then xing it in this position using a
strap. This prevents any air from enter-
ing the hydraulic system. Please note
that the brake lever may not be pulled
when the wheel has been removed.
Place a spacer between the brake pads
if you need to remove the wheel.
Ask for detailed instructions regarding the opera-
tion and special features of the e-bike braking
system from your FLYER specialist retailer, even
if you are an experienced cyclist. Practise in a
quiet, safe area with no trafc.
If you have any questions about assembling, set-
ting up, servicing or operating this part of your
bike, please contact a FLYER specialist retailer.
A trigger point should be clearly noticeable
after approximately a third of the way
when pulling the brake lever. Do not start
to ride if the brake lever can be pulled up
to the handlebars. In this case, the FLYER
is not safe for operation. It is then essen-
tial to visit your FLYER specialist retailer
and have the brake adjusted or repaired.
Hydraulic rim brakes
Due to the wear and tear put on the brake pads,
the brake levers will eventually need to be pushed
down harder to operate. When this happens, you
may have to adjust the rim brakes. As is the case
for most bike models, this can be done by adjust-
ing a screw or a setting wheel on the brake lever.
Ask your FLYER specialist retailer for details.
Brake blocks/pads and rims are wearing parts
due to their use. Have the state of wear inspected
at regular intervals by your FLYER specialist re-
tailer. Grooves in the brake blocks and embedded
points in the rims help you determine the level of
wear. If the grooves in the brake pads or the dots
on the rims aren’t visible, it means that they are
worn out and either the brake pads or the rims
must be replaced. Always change both brake
blocks at the same time.

Worn rims
Brake discs and brake pads are particu-
larly subject to wear. Have these safety-
related components regularly checked
for wear and changed as required by
your FLYER specialist retailer.
If the brake system needs to be cleaned, contact
your FLYER specialist retailer. The component
manufacturer's instructions on how to clean the
brake system are provided in the respective brake
system manual.
Only allow your FLYER specialist retailer to
maintain the brake system and change individual
brake system components. Only original spare
parts may be used. Otherwise it is possible that
the functionality of your FLYER e-bike may be im-
pacted or damaged.
Have the brake pads regularly checked accord-
ing to manufacturer specications by your FLYER
specialist retailer.
It is essential to switch off the electrical
operating system and remove the bat-
tery before any form of maintenance
work is carried out.
