12 Pedal drive
12.1 Chain drives
Chain drives use a chain to transfer rotation
and power from the pedal crank to the rear
wheel.
For this purpose, the chain runs over two
gearwheels: At pedal height through a
chainring and at the rear wheel through a
pinion.
The number of pinions varies depending on
the model.
The number of gears for derailleur gears
is based on the possible combinations of
chainring and pinions.20

12.2 Belt drives
Belt drives use a belt to transfer rotation
and power from the pedal crank to the rear
wheel.
For this purpose, the belt runs over the front
pulley at pedal height and over the rear pul-
ley at the rear wheel.

13 Electric drive system
13.1 Functionality of the
electric drive
If you have switched on one of the assis-
tance levels on your control, the motor will
start working as soon as you start pedaling.
The performance of the motor depends on:
The force with which you pedal.
If you pedal with little force, the assis-
tance is less than if you pedal harder,
such as when going uphill. However, this
also increases power consumption and
reduces the range.
The set assistance mode.
The higher the level of assistance, the
more the motor will assist you. However,
when the high motor output is high, power
consumption is high, as well. The thrust is
lowest in the weakest assistance mode,
but the range is longest here.
The range of the battery depends on:
The battery capacity.
The selected motor assistance.
The geographical conditions.
The road surface.
Your cycling style.
Your weight.
The tire pressure.
The technical condition of your e-bike.
The ambient temperature.
Extreme ambient tempera-
tures can reduce the range.
The operating temperature range should
be -5 to +40°C.
i
Important: The specified ranges
have mostly been achieved under
optimum conditions. In everyday
life, you will usually not be able to
ride as far as during these test con-
ditions. Take this circumstance into
account when planning your ride.
