Important: The ASTM F2043-13
application ranges do not apply to
S-pedelecs because S-pedelecs
are motor vehicles and not bicycles.
FLYER S-pedelecs are:
• Exclusively designed for cycling on
asphalt/paved roads. The legal regula-
tions and requirements for use in road
traffic must be taken into consideration
(see chapter 3.5 “Notes on use”).
• Not suitable for off-road cycling or jumping.
3.4 Bicycle type
In addition to the symbol for the (intended)
area of application, you will find an addi-
tional symbol for the bicycle type on the
nameplate of your FLYER pedelec.

3.5 Notes on use
3.5.1 Legal requirements
A FLYER pedelec with electric pedal assist
up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h is con-
sidered a bicycle or EPAC (Electrically
Power Assisted Cycles).
The national legal requirements for bicy-
cles or EPACs apply.
A FLYER S-pedelec with electric pedal
assist up to a maximum speed of 45 km/h is
considered a motor vehicle of class L1e-B.
The national legal regulations for motor
vehicles of class L1e-B or separate legal
regulations for S-pedelecs apply.

Important: Rules and regulations
for e-bikes (pedelecs and
s-pedelecs) may be revised and
changed. Keep up to date with
changes in legislation so that you
are always up to date.
Information on the applicable national
regulations can be obtained from your
FLYER specialist dealer, the respective
national bicycle or e-bike associations and
on the Internet.
Find out about the following questions in
particular:
• What equipment does your e-bike need
so that you can participate in public road
traffic?
• What lighting equipment must be installed
or carried?
• With what brakes must the e-bike be
equipped?
• Is the use of my e-bike subject to an age
restriction?
• Where (on roads or bike paths) do you
have to or are you allowed to ride your
e-bike at what age7?
• Is there a helmet requirement for riding
your e-bike?
