The warranty and/or guarantee can become void
if unapproved accessories are used.
FLYER AG cannot be held liable in connection
with the use of unauthorised accessories. Please
be aware that tuning the e-bike or manipulating
the speed may have legal consequences.
The installation of accessories might
damage the paint work. The frame, bat-
tery or components may not be changed
and no holes may be drilled into them in
order to attach accessories.
21. Riding with
additional load
Luggage carrier /riding with luggage
Transporting baggage changes the driving per-
formance of your FLYER e-bike. Not only is the
braking distance lengthened with more weight,
the steering is also less responsive. You should
therefore adjust your driving style to the braking
and steering behaviour of your FLYER, and al-
ways anticipate a longer braking distance. Only
transport luggage on the approved luggage racks
and ensure that the maximum permitted overall
weightaswellasthemaximumloadcapacityof
theluggagerackarenotexceeded.Thesevalues
mayneverbeexceeded.Donotxluggageracks
on the seat post; this can lead to breakages and
to very serious falls. The manufacturer’s warranty
will also be rendered void in this case.
Make sure that your luggage is rmly
and safely attached when transporting
packing bags or other loads.
Ensure that
no parts can get hooked in the spokes or
the turning wheels.
21.1 Bicycletrailers
Transportingachildoramaximumoftwochildren
in a bicycle trailer is only allowed with the appro-
ved FLYER models with a corresponding label.
Example:
Themaximum trailer loadand thelisted tongue
loadmaynotbeexceeded.
The following applies when using child
trailers:
– Max.trailerloadof40kgforFLYERswithaper-
missible total weight of 140 or 150 kg
– Max.trailerloadof60kgforFLYERswithaper-
missible total weight up to 180 kg
– The tongue load must be between 2 kg (min.)
and8kg(max.)
– Only allowed for e-bikes with hydraulic brakes
– Only allowed for mountain e-bikes with an alu-
minum rear section
– Fast e-bikes (S-pedelecs) may not be used as a
towing vehicle, at least in Germany. Check out
the applicable regulations in your own country.
– A bicycle trailer may never be clamped to frame
tubing or components (seat post, rack, etc.)
– The law forbids children under the age of 16
from riding a bicycle towing a trailer.
Please note that the area of use chan-
ges, or is reduced to category 2 for
mountain e-bikes and crossover bikes if
they are used to tow a bicycle trailer (see
Chapter 8.4 Application area).
Only ever use the trailer manufacturer’s original
system. The coupling system should be mounted
and checked by your FLYER specialist dealer.
The FLYER specialist dealer will instruct you in
how to handle the trailer combination as well as
how it works. Pay attention to the tips in the fol-
lowing chapters on learning how to handle your
bikebeforetakingitoutforyourrstride,andbe-
fore every ride, and remember that towing a trailer
leads to greater wear and tear. Have your FLYER
regularly checked by your specialist dealer.
Observe any applicable national laws. In
Germany, bicycle trailers are not permit-
ted on S-pedelecs with assistance up to
45 km/h. This is allowed in Switzerland,
but remember that the bicycle trailer
must be approved by the manufacturer
for operation up to 45 km/h.
Regardless of any statutory obligation, we recom-
mend that children wear a helmet. Fit an at least
1.5 m high, exible pole with a brightly-colored
agtoyourchildtrailer.Pleasenotethatchildren
who weigh more than 22 kg may not be transpor-
ted in child trailers.
The safe transport of children is the responsibility
of the cyclist. FLYER AG cannot be held liable in
connection with the transport of children and the
resulting risks.
